Sink Installation

At the Home Depot, we strive to ensure a more complete, satisfactory customer experience. That’s why we offer the option of adding installation services to your order when purchasing a sink online.

The Home Depot lets you purchase a Basic Installation service, including all required parts, with your online sink order.

Basic Sink Installation (Remove/Replace)
This service is for customers who are either:
a) replacing an existing sink in the same location, or
b) getting a new one installed at a site that has already been fully fitted to accommodate a sink.

New Sink Installation (Plumbing)

If you need your new sink installed in a location not previously set up for one, you will likely require plumbing work beyond the scope of our Basic Sink Installation service. If additional work is required for your new sink installation, please visit your nearest Home Depot to speak with an associate.

What to Expect

Shop homedepot.ca and select your sink.
Check the box under “Get It Installed,” select an installation option and make sure you’ve entered the correct postal code.
Click “Add To Cart”, then complete your order.

Within 24 hours of completing your order, the installer will contact you via text message or phone to schedule installation.
Please ensure that your installation is scheduled after your delivery date.

Your sink will be delivered at your curbside prior to installation.
You are responsible for moving your sink to the site where it will be installed.
Please note that the delivery team is not equipped to install your sink.

The installer will arrive at the scheduled time to install your new sink.
They will disconnect your old sink if required, and install the new one in its place.
They will perform a cleanup and inspection, then advise on proper usage and maintenance for your new sink.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Basic Sink Installation will include: un-packaging; disconnecting the existing sink; installation of the new sink in the same location as the old one; testing to ensure the new sink is in proper working order, and final clean-up of the job site.
1-year labour warranty.

Our Installers will not clear any clogged drains, make any modifications to existing structures and cabinetry or upgrade your plumbing to accommodate your new sink.
Installation does not include a shut off valve for your new sink.
Haul away and disposal of your old sink and packaging are not included unless purchased separately.
Mileage expenses may apply if your installation requires over 50 km travel from the store.

In most cases, your sink installation can be completed in 2-3 hours.

No. With Basic Sink Installation, Home Depot installers will only hook up your new sink in a location that has already been fitted for one. Installing a sink in a new location requires preparatory work, likely including the services of a plumber. This additional work is not included in Basic Sink Installation.
If additional work is required for your new sink installation, please visit your nearest Home Depot to speak with an associate.

The distance between the floor drain and the wall, called the rough-in, this is one factor to consider when selecting your toilet. The standard distance is 12”, and 10” or 14” are occasionally found in older homes. You can determine the rough-in on an existing toilet by measuring from the wall behind the toilet to the middle of the bolts on the base.

All required parts are included in the cost of your Basic Sink Installation service.

Yes. Make sure that your new sink is the same size as your old one to avoid having to re-size or replace your existing countertop.
If you have an undermount sink, additional installation charges may apply.

Yes, if the new double sink is the same size (width, length and depth) as your old sink.

Yes, but additional charges may apply to adjust the plumbing under the sink to accommodate the new depth.
Please also note that modifications to existing structures and cabinetry are not included in a Basic Sink Installation.

You can use your new sink once the silicone has dried completely, this usually takes about 24 hours. Your Home Depot installer will advise you at the time of installation.
Avoid exposing the silicone to moisture while it is still drying.

Yes. If you would like your old sink to be hauled away, the service can be purchased prior to checkout.

No. Our installers will disconnect your old sink before installing the new one.

No. Delivery and installation services are arranged and scheduled separately from each other. You can purchase haul away of the old sink when you purchase the new sink.
The installer will contact you via text message within 24 hours of completing your order to schedule your sink installation. Please take your delivery time into account when scheduling your installation appointment.

If the sink arrives with visible damage, ask the delivery agent about the Save the Delivery process. Once explained, if this is not something that is acceptable to you, we recommend that you refuse the delivery and indicate ‘refused due to damage’ on the bill of lading (BOL). Otherwise, you have up to 48 hours from time of delivery to notify The Home Depot at 1-800-759-2054 of any concealed damage. If you notice a defect (not damage) in the sink after the 48 hours, this becomes a warranty issue. Please call the manufacturer’s warranty line. This is not the responsibility of the installer. The appliance comes with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. In addition, you may choose to purchase an Extended Service Plan at any time within the first year. If the damage is confirmed before installation please contact us to reschedule your installation.
