Rated 5 out of 5 by from About its compatibility Maybe it will help somebody who has questions about its compatibility. I use it to replace an old R-140-1-TP that worked with one F30T12. This ballast (RELB-2S40-N model) is way lighter and smaller comparing to the old model

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement for Tar Magnetic ballasts I replaced 6 tar magnetic ballasts with these electronic ballasts in a country church. The power to the church must be pretty unstable; because the old ballasts are starting to go quite regularly now. The church was built in the mid 80's with about 40 T12 double lamp surface mount fixtures. I have yet to have a failed electronic ballast from Home Depot. I am sticking with 34w T12 48" bulbs as I have no desire or budget to convert the church to better fixtures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO far so good! After replacing all the tubes in my office the old magnetic ballast failed on one fixture. Bought and installed this ballast. Easy to install. Notice this fixture now lights instantly with absolutely no flicker - now I will replace the others one by one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 2 year warranty , last a whole 1 month more I now date everything from Home Depot, I started replacing the 30 year old ballasts with these 2 years ago, and they are already dying. There is no longer any warranty docs, so I had to find it on line… 2 years … well it made it to 25 months.. If your going to install something like this into your house, it should last 10 to 15 years.. can you image replacing all the ballasts 25 times.. that’s worse then the light bulbs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It has been working for 2 months, then died Product: Philips Advance. Model: Ambistar RELB-2S40-N. Note that the advertised picture shows "Cantium" which is a different brand. Pros: fits perfectly, easy to wire (just follow the diagram), no more buzzing, emits less magnetic field. Cons: died within 2 months; otherwise I would give it 5 stars. Returned back to HomeDepot thanks to the 90 days return policy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Must’ve been bad luck? The one I got didn’t work :( I also had a hard time with the whole curbside pickup at the Dundas and Winston Churchill location, it took quite a while for the whole process.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as intended I purchased this to replace my flickering ballast. It's extremely light compared to the old one and works as intended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install Bought this a month ago and found instructions simple to follow. Splicing was the toughest aspect of this replacement.

Can I use t8 bulbs with this ballast?

Asked by: Handyman
T8 bulbs are shorter, so as long as the bulbs fit the fixture, this ballast will work & as long as you can safely mount the ballast in the fixture base.
