Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great toilet, bad hardware Same issue as Vinney, please read his review also. Toilet works very well, but the included flapper is faulty, and easily ends up wasting lots of water when it doesn't close correctly. I called American Standard, and they sent me a replacement flapper, but it is the same one the toilet comes with, so same problem. I will look into generic replacements. Please American Standard, get a new flapper designed and do a recall on these toilets!! I am normally a big American Standard supporter, and have bought many of their toilets over the years. This one will flush anything down, it has never plugged on me, but this faulty flapper it bad. When it doesn't seal, the leak is like leaving a faucet wide open.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toilet I use to work for a large home builder and these were the standard toilets put into homes. My experience of having little to know problems with clogging or breaking had me purchase 3 for my home as well. Don't let poor reviews of people not knowing how to adjust the water level throw you off. Wait for it to go on sale, and replace all your toilets. This product use to be around $133 to $120.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent affordable toilet I am a contractor/handyman and have installed quite a few of these toilets. I also have 4 of them in my own house. I recommend them to all my customers who are looking for a cost effective, affordable standard toilet. Reading some of the negative reviews leads me to believe that some folks do not understand the basics of toilet operation or installation. For example, complaining about the length of the flange bolts. They are industry standard in length, and will need to be cut after installation in order for the white cap to be placed on top. This is normal. Secondly, with this model, you will have to adjust the float height in order for the tank to fill to the proper height. It is not set at the factory. Next: when tightening down the tank bolts, you need to tighten them evenly, until the tank is touching the bowl on both sides, and at the front. The tank should not wobble. Lastly, the toilet seat is kind of weak. I replaced all of mine with a solid wood, white, slow close lid. Much more robust. Hope this helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A top quality toilet at a reasonable price! As a certified Master Plumber and owner of a plumbing company, these American Standard toilets remain our first choice for all installations. They are extremely well built and offer years of excellent service. I have this very same model installed in every bathroom my own house. No fancy "dual flush" mechanism that is prone to breaking over time but rather a "tried and true" handle. Replacement parts if ever needed, are inexpensive and can be generic and not forcing you to purchase part #12345 like many other "quality" brands. Do NOT be fooled by the low cost price! These toilets are a steal!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's terrible. I bought this toilet. It's very bad. Because there is no insulation foam inside the water tank, there is a lot of condensation water on the outer wall of the toilet. I found that the water droplets had caused damage to the floor and walls very late. I am currently determining whether the dripping water is only condensate or condensate plus water leaking from the tank. I didn't keep the purchase invoice, so I didn't know whether Homedepot could replace another brand of toilet. In addition, the replacement of toilets will cost someone to install them, which is a total additional cost.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Toilet is great but hardware is very poor Bought two of them about 2 years ago and installed them in my home. The actual toilet works very well in flushing whatever is in the bowl. The problem is that these toilets come with bad hardware for refilling the tank and the flapper. The refill valve has problems in that it is too light and sometimes it doesn't go completely down to turn on the refill. I had to call American Standard and the they sent a different flush valve model that actually worked. Secondly and even worse is the Fluidmaster flapper that comes with the unit. It is very badly designed allowing the chain to get caught when flushing, causing the flapper not to close. This is not a minor leak, it actually continues to try to fill the tank full blast. Went on vacation and had my daughter go in to flush toilet periodically. When I returned two and a half months later, I got a notice from the municipality telling me that there must be a leak in the house. Their records showed that I used at least ten times as much water as normal, when we weren't even home. Needless to say the bill was also more than ten times the normal and I had to pay. I learned my lesson and replaced the two useless Fluidmaster flappers with another brand that does not have those design flaws. In other words the top of the flapper is smooth and there is no way that the chain can get caught. This is not rocket science. The replacement flapper was probably less expensive than the Fluidmaster. So why did American Standard place a substandard flapper in it in the first place? The price of the toilet was cheap but the water bill quadrupled the price. So check the hardware inside before buying and if it has the Fluidmaster flapper replace it immediately or don't buy it. Attached is a a photo of the bad flapper. You can easily see how the chain can get caught caught when flushing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Toilet Seal Leaks!! Bought 2 units of this toilet, and both of their seals leaked after a short period of time. I brought this issue up to a In-store sales rep afterwards, and they said that the seal that comes with this toilet fails 90% of the time overtime!! My brother in law bought this too and had the same issue! Buying a separate seal and reinstalling the toilet on it fixed the problem, but the manufacturer should really address this problem, as the leak did cause extensive damage to my downstairs ceiling....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toilet so nice I bought it twice I installed one of these toilets while on a budget, expecting to get something that was just ok. Instead, I got a great toilet. Powerful flush, comfortable height and seat, efficient water usage, reasonable noise level. I ended up buying the exact same toilet for another bathroom, even though I had a bigger budget and could have bought any other toilet.
