Rated 1 out of 5 by from Easy to install but will never use again I purchased these when we redid our front hallway/foyer in December 2020. I have done lots of drywall and always used the light gauge galvanized angle corners with screws. I was attracted to this product by what appeared to be a potential easier install using glue and thought it would be give a nicer finished square corner as they wouldn’t deform like the light gauge galvanized corners can when you drive a screw in too hard. Six months after the install cracks appeared full length along the paper edge on nearly all of the sections. I went over with a skim coat of drywall mud and repainted but the cracks showed up again. It is October 2022 and I am removing them all and will replace with the usual galvanized angle. Removing the paper ones requires some time and effort with the layers of drywall on top and the recommended 3M glue does stick the corner piece paper to the drywall. I think the issue may be the swelling and shrinkage of the paper with season/ humidity changes is just enough to crack the plaster and paint along the edge and when it does you can’t ignore the crack.

Why are the legs uneven?

This product (B1W) is designed for an outside corner using 1/2" drywall. The wide (13/16") leg is intended for the side of the corner that will span both sheets. The shorter (9/16") leg is intended for the side of the corner that bonds with one drywall face only - it does not need to be longer. This is an industry standard. Even leg outside Paper Faced Corner Bead (B1XW EL) is also available from CGC, special order from the Home Depot Contractor Services desk. See the attached image for an installation diagram.

Can I use this for all outside corners like closet and duct work? Im finishing my basement right now and I’m on mudding stage right night.. I really appreciate for all the response . Thanks

What is meant by "uneven leg"?

Hi HarbourDog, and thank you for your question. Uneven leg means that the metal piece in the middle, has one side longer than the other. If you look at the 8' product page, HD item number 1000109056 there is additional imagery. There is a profile shot of a wall and the corner bead against, this image you can clearly see the metal (green area) has one side shorter than the other.
