Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fantastic machine, but problems with switch This is the favourite vacuum of everyone in the house, kids included. We have recommended it to many! The suction is great. We use it for construction and household cleaning (we purchased an extension wand at a vacuum store and use it for ceilings). We invested in a second battery so never run out of power. Had no complaints for several years, but now the power switch is beginning to fail and has to be toggled back and forth 10-15 times to turn it on. I fear the switch will fail entirely soon. I expected more from a Dewalt and it is making me think differently about the reliability of the brand.

For me personally though the unit’s versatility and convenience help balance it out so for the tasks I wish to accomplish with it should suffice perfectly fine. Yes went through countless reviews seeing commonalities such as the elusive circuit board failure. Here’s hoping, after 7+ years since DCV581H initial release, Dewalt has addressed such issues to instill a better level of reliability. Pro’s: * Design/compactness * Run-time on 5ah battery * Cordless and corded operation (battery or AC) * Decent weight w/battery * Dry/wet capable * Can use as a blower * Filter * 2-gallong tank capacity Con’s: * Not quite as powerful as had hoped * Flex hose could be a foot longer (6’) * No bag option

Read all the threads on the topic. It's infuriating. It is a good little vacuum, but does not work for my intended purpose. How this hasn't been fixed is beyond me.

It’s more powerful than I assumed and the convience of using battery power is priceless. I mostly keep it in my car and when ( not if ) my children make any mess , it’s a quick clean up,wet or dry. The only down side is I wish it had a shoulder strap and the cost is a little high,but for the quality and dependability of a well build product ,it’s worth it. P.S invest in a higher cell battery 4Ah or 5Ah makes for a lot longer run time Above all Very pleased with this product .

It's rated at 2.6 amp at 120V and I don't notice any reduction in power on the 20V battery. It is more than adequate. Yes, it has less suction than a 7 amp 120V full size corded shop vac, but setting up and powering the full size unit on my sloped driveway is a considerable nuisance so it seldom gets used. The portability and adequate power of the 20V unit means the cars will be cleaned regularly. Has worked very well so far. No complaints, would definitely recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It’s a Dewalt Was a little hesitant at first about purchasing this unit. Everybody claims their vacuum is tops. What a happy surprise to see it live up to the Dewalt name. For such a small unit, it does a great job. The cord/cordless feature is great when you just want to do a quick clean up of the family vehicle before going out. Haven’t gotten around to using it for wet applications but if the way it tackles dry situations is any indication, it will step up when the time comes. Extremely happy with this purchase

Does this vac have a blow feature?

The "DewaltProductExpert" who claims it doesn't is wrong. You detach the hose from the in the inlet port and reattach it to the outlet port which you can see in the product photo (it's the black circle on the right side of the vacuum).
