Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid but a bit expensive. I purchased these bracket for a 5/8" plywood shelf in the garage. I put brackets on each stud spaced at 16" on center over 10 feet. I keep wood on the shelf for my shop. The brackets are solid and should take the weight I need them to.

How many brackets is recommended for a 23"x80" MDF shelf, and what's the best option for attaching to a steal framed drywall?

It most certainly depends on what you are putting on the shelf. I put a bracket on every stud or 16" spacing as I was using the 3/4" plywood shelf for lumber. I would use a #10 metal screw and drill the pilot hole the exact size recommended. Problem is with steel studs you cannot get the hold like wood, so I would not load the shelf too much.

Neither specification, nor drawings indicate the dia of the mounting holes. They should, since one may want to acquire suitable screws before being able o measure the dia himself. So, the question is: 1/4in concrete screws are suitable or not?
