All seem to fail in a short period of time (within a month) where there is significant water spray (the shower/bath). Have followed directions to the max. Still looking for a product that won't fail that quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Great Caulk This silicone worked excellent. It was easy to use and had very little odour. The silicone applied smoothly and was easy to tool, leaving a perfect finish. I strongly reccomend this product for any bathroom or kitchen project, as it excels in a moist and warm environment, and resists mold and mildew.

Will GE silicone1clear caulking be compatible with the rubber gasket in a bath tub strainer drain as a seal

Slicone will not adhere to most organic rubbers, although fully-cured silicone would technically be compatible, after a couple of days, to allow a complete cure of the silicone rubber. If you're trying to create a water-tight seal at the drain, typically a plumber's putty would be used, Plumber's putty would seal the area, under the drain cover plate, and also allow easy removal, when desired.

Thank you for the question. GE Silicone 1 should not be considered for use on aquariums. This product is not tested for aquatic safety. Unfortunately, GE does not offer a suitable product for this purpose at this time.
