Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4 Wire Thermostat-has an off capability With the 4 wire thermostat one is able to switch off the heater. With the 2 wire thermostat the heater is not totally off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why aren't these sold in stores?! What a nice change from the Dimplex tstats our house had. I notice home sleepo stopped selling those, which is good because they were simply awful. The Honeywell model is excellent and far more accurate. There is a much smaller window from "on" to "off", which is ideal for a mechanical tstat. Also, the screws are easily accessible, unlike the Dimplex model which hid one of the screws partly behind the dial. You also get copper wires instead of aluminum with Honeywell. I will be buying more as our old dimplex models fail.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dangereux Extrêmement dangereux.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job. It's an electro-mechanical thermostat. It does what it's supposed to do: turn on when the room temperature gets low enough below the set point and turn off when the room temperature gets high enough above the set point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job it says it will. Easy to install, you will want to make sure you are installing into a LARGE box as the device is quite large along the four connections there isn't much room. I used a 4" box and with a 4" square one device 1/2" raised cover.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 4 wire thermostat is too bulk you The back side of this thermostat is too bulky to install a 4 wire connection into a single box. In trying to push the unit into the box, the plastic front plate cracked. In addition, the thermostat ceased to operate with respect to the temperature setting. It was either on with no temperature control, or off when turned off. This thermostat is not interchangeable with the White Rodgers thermostat that we had previously

The description of this thermostat says it is mechanical and non-programmable. But the specs indicate it has battery backup and WiFi. Seems like something in wrong. Can you please clarify? Thanks PeteR

Asked by: PeteR
The specs are incorrect. This is a very basic mechanical thermostat with a manual setting dial.

I am replacing an old Westcan with a Honeywell ct410B1009 to control a 500w baseboard. There is only 1 wire (12ga red and black) in the wall box. The old thermostat had the black to L1, the red to T2 and a jumper wire from T1 to L2. Should I do the same?

Asked by: Gerald
Sounds like you have a 120v heater as there are only 2 single wires in the circuit. (Single pole) This thermostat is for a single pole or a 2 pole circuit which can handle 120 or 240 volt heaters. You can wire it the same way as before or you can just connect the wires to L1 and T1. The L2 and T2 connection just opens the circuit when the Thermostat is turned to OFF, which is for safety on a 240 v cirvuit. The old way just put 2 switches (1 thermostat and 1 on off switch) onto the circuit.

Hello. My electric baseboard thermostat turns the heater only at 25 degrees. I tried to replace the thermostat but it does the same. Is it normal or there will be another issue.

Asked by: bob38
Ensure that you have wired the thermostat correctly. It's unlikely to be another issue, as the baseboard wiring is a very simple circuit. For a 4-wire Thermostat: If it is a 4-wire thermostat the wires from "L1" and "L2" should be connected to the two wires that connect to the main power which are usually a black/white or red/white or black/red pair. When the wires are disconnected you can separate the wires and then temporarily turn the circuit breaker back on and use a meter to check for 240V. The pair of wires that show 240V will be from the main power. These are the ones to connect to the L1 and L2 labelled on the thermostat. Remember to turn the circuit breaker off again before connecting them. The "T1" and "T2" wires on the thermostat connect to the two wires that go to the baseboard. These will be the ones that didn't have main power on them. For a 2-wire Thermostat: If it is a 2-wire thermostat, one of the two wires from the baseboard (usually the white one) connects directly to one of the two wires from the main power (can be black, red, or white one). If one of the main power wires is a white one, then connect the baseboard white wire directly to this one. Connect the other baseboard wire to the "Tx" thermostat wire and the other power wire to the "Lx" thermostat wire.

How is this model different from the 2-wire model?

Does the 4-wire model control both heating and cooling simultaneously without any manual switching, whereas the 2-wire model can only control only heating OR cooling?
Asked by: kmart
Hello These thermostats are for use with baseboard heating. The first thing that you should check is the number of wires that you currently have and that will determine which unit you can use and also confirm that you are connecting these to a baseboard unit. The 4 wire model can only be used if you have 4 wires and the difference between the two is that the 4 wire allows for a positive off, meaning that the baseboard will be turned off completely. With the 2 wire thermostat you can not turn the heat off completely, it will be set to the min point. I hope that helps. If you still have questions please call technical support at 1-800-468-1502

Does this thermostat break both poles or just one when temperature is reached?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello! The Honeywell Electric Baseboard Thermostat does offer two models. One of which will break on both lines and the other will break on positive off. The CT410B will break on both, and the CT410A will break on positive. I hope this helps. Thank you.
