Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great gadget that saves money! I used to be quite nerdy about my thermostat: turn it off when going to work, turn it on when home from work, turn it off when going to bed, turn it on when I wake up, repeat. It saved me a lot of money, but is kind of a pain to be methodical about it. I don't have to worry about that anymore with this digital thermostat. Installation was easy and programming it was equally simple. It took a couple of reads to fully understand how to program it, but after one go, I can reprogram it without the instructions. And like a previous reviewer said, it ramps the adjustments of the current going to the baseboard heaters. Typically, regular dial thermostats either turn on the heaters fully or turn them off. This nicely adjusts the heat with no "all-or-nothing" way of doing things. In turn, you don't get the "tinging" sound of metal suddenly expanding or contracting as you would with regular thermo's. I wish it had a backlit screen. I would totally have paid an extra $10 for it. Speaking of price, the price listed on this website could be incorrect: I bought mine at the Vancouver Terminal Ave. location for $39.99. Also note that if you have baseboard heating at your place, the other Ritetemp thermo's will not work unless it specifically says "for baseboard heating". Baseboard heating is high-voltage and those Ritetemp's are meant for low-voltage. I highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Prodict Don't think it is a price mistake. I think they are missing information. I saw them selling this product in a box of 5 for about this price. It is probably that but I would check before ordering. Anyway I have 6 installed and they all work perfectly. Very sensitive to temperature change and I love the fact that they can control the intensity of the heat. Old thermostats are 100% on or off. This thermostat go work at 0% - 25% - 50% - 75% and 100% with little flames on the display indicating the intensity. This helps keep a more constant temperature in the room. Also this is cheapest one I found with all these features. 5 + 2 with 4 temperature changes per day is perfect if you work Monday - Friday and then are usually home or away on weekends. It even replaced my alarm clock. I like to sleep in a really cold room. At 6am the temperature climbs to 22% which wakes me up and I get ready for work. Drops during the day and rises slightly in the evening before I get home and drops when I go to bed. If you get home 3 hours before schedule just pump up the temperature yourself and it will atuomatically go back to regular programming when the next cycle comes. If you know you will have a different schedule for an extended period of time just use the manual mode and keep any constant temperature or reprogram, it only takes a few minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Baseboard Delight If you are looking for new thermostats and have baseboard heaters, this Honeywell thermostat is great. Installation was very easy, and there a two sets of screw mounting holes--in a tight space with door trim, a very handy option. I bought four of these for common areas of the house, and not only am I saving money, but they provide a much more regulated heat (varying 25-50-75-100% heat output) making the rooms more comfortable. If you plan to sign up for an ecoEnergy Home inspection before renovating, you will get back $5 per thermostat (up to 5). Switching to programmeable thermostats can save up to 10% on your heating bill, and if you are heating with electric, that can be a lot of savings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Item The price shown is in error, the actual price at the store (Kamloops) is $39.99. Very nice thermostat, easy to set. Also covers up a wider area than the electrical box area for retrofits or installing an electrical box in a already finished wall.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing batch of a great product 4 of the 5 thermostats in this pack did not work when installed. Two of them seemed to work fine, but were incapable of activating radiators when they tried calling for heat. On the other two, the pins mating the removable panel to the back of the device were not well soldered, and they heated and came apart when the circuit was reconnected. Mixing and matching fronts and backs of these four devices did not result in any functioning configuration. That all said, the one device out of the bunch that did work works like a charm -- it keeps the temperature very consistent, and programming it is a breeze. Honeywell is very reasonable and is sending me replacements for the four lemons. I am looking forward to having a full complement of these great thermostats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quality I bought a 5 pack last year, and used 2 of them in my apartment, and sold the other 3. They were fairly easy to install (although I had help because the wiring in the house was old and I'm not an electrician) We bought a house and I've moved those two into the house but I'll need to buy more. In the new house, the wiring was simpler (and newer) so I was able to install these myself in about 20 minutes. Great quality product. Doesn't heat the big space as well as the little space, but that is simply because I've got the heat too low, and the other thermostats low until I get new programmable ones. The model pictured above is the new version of the one I bought last year. The only difference (other then the price which is now $20 cheaper for a 5 pack) is that the new version has a backlit screen.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Easy to install but doesn't work I bought 2 of these for our house. Easily nstalled the first but the screen flashed a variety of numbers and symbols. We were not able to get the heating system to work and couldn't get it to stop flashing. None of the controls activated the thermostat. I called the "Do you need assistance?" phone number provided by Honeywell only to be informed I had to call the Canadian number. When I called the Canadian number I ended up speaking with the same woman again!! She guessed the Canadian number was being forwarded to the U.S. Sooooo....she asked me what was wrong and then suggested it must be defective so get a different one. We installed the 2nd one and it did the same thing. I checked online for any troubleshooting links to help but found nothing. Needless to say, this is going back to Home Depot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To clear up the confusion on the price A few reviewers are a bit confused about the price. Yes, you can buy *one* of these thermostats in the store for $39.99. However, I recently ordered this product and received a box of 5 thermostats, just like the product description says. Buying 5 online this way still works out to be cheaper than buying 5 individually in-store. I believe I saved $15, even after the shipping. I haven't installed them yet, but based on the other reviews, they will likely work just fine for my purposes.

RLV4300 Programmable Thermostat Not Lighting

I am installing nine Honeywell RLV4300 programmable thermostats for my home's 220v baseboard heaters. Of the six installed so far, only two are lighted. The others remain with a blank screen. I have triple checked the wiring and it is correctly and firmly attached with the included wire nuts. I have tried the reset button on the thermostats with no result. I cannot imagine that so many would be defective. I spent an entire day on this and cannot imagine what the problem may be. Can you solve this? Any help will be very much appreciated.

What does it take to wire these thermostats?

We have electric baseboard heaters (with a 1 to 10 control knob) under our windows. I assume the thermostat needs to go on an inside wall. Will we have to route wires to the thermostats and then to the baseboards? If so, do you have a wireless option for the thermostats?
Asked by: Anonymous
Hello If you live in Quebec you should have these installed by a qualified electrician, and sorry no there is not a wireless option at this point.

Will this work with an oil heat baseboard?

I don't know the official name of it, but we have baseboards that have hot water running through them which is heated by oil. Would these thermostats work for that?
Asked by: waterskijess
Hello Unfortunatley, these thermostats are designed to be used for electric basboards, convectors, and fan forced heaters, so no they will not work on your baseboards.
