Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great idea - difficult to assemble This was my 4th Husky steel shelving but a new design that is harder to assemble and less secure, in my observation. The uprights are not square or rectangular with 90-degree angles. Each has 2 x 45-degree angles with matching 45-degree angles on the cross-pieces. The tangs for the cross-pieces do not fit easily. I had to bend each tang to get it to fit. Getting one side in place was frustrated when it came apart connecting the other end. After assembling one shelf, I quit and returned the item. The new design is fancier but not functional.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from misleading dimensions Shelves are fairly sturdy, but are not the dimensions listed! I bought these to use in a custom cabinet, turns out they are not 18" deep. They are just under 16 3/4". Presumably it becomes 18" when installed in their shelves, but that isnt obvious information to find. Much closer to the listed 48" wide, but still a bit short at 47 1/2"

The size I ordered was compact enough to fit in my studio and I organized a lot of clutter. The shelving unit now holds my scuba gear, wine rack and small kitchen appliances. Love the ability to use S-hooks and hook plates/accessories to add to function. (Ensure that when you order accessories that they are designed for the specific shelves you order. Mine weren't but I was able to use sturdy zip ties to fasten them and it works just fine. All my fins are attached to one side of the shelving unit.)

Either two person carry or dolly that can support 50 lb. Shelf was easy to assemble. Just have to make sure about latch direction, and rubber mallet highly useful if available, (I assembled by hand). Sturdy. Good solid parts. Happy with product. Use a cooler or box as a guide to shelf spacing.

The grate design prevents dust from accumulating and makes carrying the shelf into your house easy. The only issue I had with this product was the setup, the instructions are somewhat vague and the shelf components can be finicky to assemble but overall a good product.

Can the unit be built in a way to make it a bit shorter? The location I plan on putting it is just a little under 72 inches and we're very interested in this unit, thank you in advance!

The levels/racks can be moved to accommodate dimensions however the side supports cannot be adjusted therefore are at a fixed length. However I 100% recommend this shelf! I’ve had it for a year and it’s amazing!

I’m thinking of putting 3-4 of these units freestanding between bays in my garage.  Are these sturdy enough to use freestanding within reason or must they be attached to a wall?

I've got three of these in a row along the wall of our garage. I didn't secure them to the wall as none of the back rails align with any studs (and it would be pointless in my opinion to attach such heavy units simply into drywall). I simply added some pads underneath each front facing foot to create a subtle inclination towards the wall. They're super sturdy. With weight in them, they're immobile.

I dont under stand. Is the overall wide 36 In or 39 In? The post and title listed as 39 In but one of your answer said it is 36 In. I need to add more shelf so if this shelf SKU # 1001129869 and SKU # 1001115435 will fit into this.

Hi Rhein, The overall width of this shelving unit, includiing the upright end caps, is 39 inches. The space between the upright end caps is 36 inches, so each end cap accounts for 1.5 inches when planning for space. Adding another shelf is as simple as purchasing another 36" beam and brace kit, and a wire shelf if you need one. Thank you!
