The K2 Pumps Compact primary and battery backup system is designed to protect basements from flooding during a power outage, or when extra pumping capacity is required. The 1/3 HP primary pump is constructed of heavy-duty stainless steel. It has a vertical switch, lubricated ball bearings and shaft seal that will extend the life of the pump. The energy efficient PSC motor is supplied with automatic thermal overload protection. The 1/16 HP DC backup pump is constructed of corrosion-resistant thermoplastic. The DC pump is supplied with a water cooled, high-efficiency motor for extended operation during power outages.

  1. System includes: primary pump and switch, backup pump with switch and Quick Connect fitting, alarm system, charger and battery control box (battery not included)
  1. 1/3 HP Primary pump, with built-in vertical switch, removes water up to 4,000 GPH
  1. 1/16 HP High flow battery backup DC pump; removes water up to 1,800 GPH
  1. Battery backup DC pump comes with a Quick Connect Fitting which eliminates the need for PVC primer, glue or plumber's tape

While I’ve had it hooked up a short time, it seems like a well assembled system and it was easy to get it swapped into my very active sump pit in a short amount of time. Easy with the no-glue fitting, I added a small length of 1.5” pvc pipe, a coupling and fitting to attach it to my existing drain hose, clamped it and it was good to go! The included battery box/charger is very large and I easily fit a group 31 marine AGM battery so I should have plenty of run time during an outage. Tested the backup pump which sounds an alarm when power is cut or when the backup float is activated. My only “complaint” is that I wish the main float had adjustability or more length to it so that the cycle was longer to move more water and in turn run less frequently. I’m hoping it continues to work well, I see no reason why it wouldn’t!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a good purchase this unit was fully assembled compact, and very easy to install. I tested both pumps and they easily cleared all water from my sump, about a 10" lift. After 1 month and during spring thaw, it ran often and performed well. We will now see what the long term performance will be.

Is this pump good to put in a 5 gallon bucket?

Trey-Beau - The pump would require a pit to be 12'' wide and 18'' deep. A 5 gallon bucket might not work for this. - GP Support
