Rated 1 out of 5 by from F for Safety! I just got this home, excited to try it out. It had clearly been returned but I didn’t initially see anything wrong with it, though for some reason I thought it came with 2 blades and only comes with one. When I made a trial cut, though, THE SAW DIDN'T STOP when I did! I had my whole hand completely off the safety button and the trigger and it still continued. I squeezed the trigger again briefly all the way down and it stopped. The next trial depression of the trigger went as expected, but a third ‘squeeze and release’ replicated the initial issue. Given that, by its design, the blade on a recipro is exposed, I’d be concerned that I’d significantly injure myself or someone else if I ever lost my grip. Obviously, I immediately reboxed the item for return. Further, fyi - the description says the speed varies with trigger depression, but that certainly wasn’t the case for me; I’m not if that’s a misstatement about the model, or a defect in this specific unit, but it was a feature I was looking for so I thought I’d mention it in case it’s a deciding feature for others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for a corded recip saw. Great value for what you get and it works great. I didn't want to spend a pile of money on something I would barely use and the Makita on sale fit the bill.

Can you install de blades upside down too?

Asked by: Stugaz
A blade can be attached in the opposite direction, yet Makita recommends using the saw in a forward direction only, for safety.
