Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy Install, Screw Securing Needs Improvement This is a very easy install. It comes in 2 parts. The window part is on the outside of the door, and a rectangular, mating flange is on the inside of the door. The flange screws to the window with 12 screws around the perimeter. The flange and window parts effectively "clamp" the rectangular cut-out hole in the door. I started with a screw in one corner, then moved to the next corner. I was very careful not to over-tighten the screws because they screw into plastic holes on the window part, and, in my opinion, these plastic holes could be easily stripped. Well, the second screw made it in about halfway into the hole and the plastic extrusion snapped off. There is no way to repair that. Masonite needs to have screws holes that are metallic. Due to this cheap construction and that there are only 11 holes securing the window in place, I'm giving it 7/10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Window Insert for Door We had a solid existing steel door, therefore, we had to cut the hole in the door to install the glass insert. The hole size we cut was 23" x 37" for a 22" x 36" glass insert (there are no instructions as to how to rough out the opening - just how to replace an existing). So for those of you who do not have an existing window this is totally do-able. Once the cut-out in the door was done the window installation was extremely easy (if you need to cut the hole in your door find a you-tube video, which is what we did and it was very helpful). We are very happy with the results. As to how it performs over the winter with heat loss/being drafty (previous review) we will let you know. We bought this item at Home Depot (South) in Windsor, Ontario and I just want to say we had very helpful staff in selecting the window and tools we needed.

The time-consuming part was removing the sealant used in the original. Removing the original window and replacing with the perfect-fit vented window was as I had hoped. Perfect. Now we have flow through air (front to back) for our garage. Price was to be expected these days.

How do I clean both sides of the bottom window? I can't get the screen out.

lift the bottom window as far as it will go. on the left of the screen there two finger loops. the top one is hidden behind the bottom window frame. pull them both to the right and press outward. it takes a decent amount of pulling in before the screen will pop out. it is easier to put it back from the outside. close the window, clean it and insert the screen with the loops on the right as you are now outside.

I have a metal door with a half-lite window that measures 21-3/4" X 35.5" from each side of the exterior of the plastic frame. Will this fit?
