Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not 100% Fire-Rated How this door passed QA is beyond me. This door will come with an inspection plate that says fire-rated, but it is not. Those inspection plates are also very poorly stapled into the frame. The mortising is very poor, hinges are not drilled straight or aligned, and once the door is installed, level and plum, there is a 3/8" gap between the factory door sweep and the threshold plate voiding the fire-rating. I used this door as my garage access into the house and cold air, exhaust and god forbid there was ever a fire will definitely be an issue as it can easily come through that gap. Now I need to go back to HD and have them provide me with a new door sweep for a new door I just bought from them, which most likely will not happen and I will end up spending more of my own money to correct a manufacturer's issue. I honestly should have listened to the othwr reviews from the other Masonite doors. Despite being interior door reviews, they all have the same complaints about the poor mortising and the hinges not being drilled properly (not aligned and holes not drilled straight). I expected more from Masonite, but their quality has gone steeply downhill. Embarassing that they are made in Canada. I wouldn't recommend their doors to anyone, but they seem to have cornered the market as no one else sells any other brand. They own other "brand names", but if you research they are all made by a Masonite affiliate. I will be looking into how to report the QA issues against the fire-rating inspection for this door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great door for a great price Needed a fire door for the door that leads into our garage. This worked perfectly, and didn't take too long for my husband and I to install. It's self closing as well. There are 2 hinges you can adjust the tightness of, which determines how fast the door will close, or set it completely loose, so it doesn't self close at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good door Finding the right doors is challenging. Luckily this one has worked great for us. It is meant to be an exterior door so it has a metal stepping plate at the base. We were using it inside, but it's the entrance to an apartment so the plate isn't an issue. Very happy with it.

I am attaching some picture to prove the quality control at Masonite and Home Depot are in total mess. I fixed the hinges and installed the door because I couldn't wait for Home Depot to pick it up and replaced, but still the door still deformed ( as showing the second picture). This is my second review on this because my first review is not published for some reason.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hinges on the wrong place from factory I bought this door 2 weeks ago, one of the hinges was placed on the wrong place from the factory ( pictures attached) and the door was and still ( after replacing the hinge in the right pace) deformed as show the pictures. I believe the quality control at Masonite is poor as well as at Home Depot too. Didn’t return the door because I was already opened the wall between my garage and the house.

Is the door and frame both fire rated

Hi there, below there is a question that says the STC (sound proof rating) of this door is 23. A quick google says this is an incredibly low sound proof rating. Can anyone confirm that this door is in fact only 23?

Two questions: - Does this door meet NAFS? - Does it have a CSA/CAN/ULC fire rating? As a previous poster stated, local building authorities require the door in a house-garage application to meet Canadian standards. Can you post a photo of the label?

Just an FYI: we did not install this door for a house-garage application, but used it for an exterior-garage application. Hope this was of some value. Hello matt1178, this door has 2 self closing hinges , 1 one on the top and 1 on the bottom . The middle hinge will be a standard hinge that would come with a non-fire rated door unit.

Can I trim this door down to be 5 feet high for my basement?

Hi this door comes with the frame attached to the door as one piece.  Your measurements need to include the frame as well to ensure the door to fit. The doorway will need to without a trim as well if there is an existing door.
