Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fail You would think Moen, a company which deals with faucets and water would know how to make a faucet adapter (why the shower kit didn’t come with one is beyond me). But no, installed it and had a leak through my wall. Got another and the same thing happened. Do not buy this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works but horrible instructions I agree with most reviews. Instructions are lacking. Did a bunch of digging on line and found a video that was similar. Basically the Alan nut needs to be screwed all the way in so the back attachment doesn’t spin. Use the supplied Teflon tape for all the threaded connections. The wash goes goes in after the grey attachment is secured. The black extension gets screwed into the faucet head first then the faucet head gets rotated into the grey attachment. Voila, no leaks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible purchase. We bought two of these. The first time I followed the instructions and the full faucet completely fell off. I ended up trying to tighten the screw too much and ruined the grey part. The second time I got advice from a sales associate and the faucet STILL fell off. The grey hex part won't sit flush to our faucet and our faucet will never sit flush to the wall. Absolutely one of my most frustrating experiences.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Giant hunk on dog fecis I don’t leave reviews, ever. After installing this a felt the need to log on and say f’ you MOEN, and the horse you road in on. I’m disgusted that this is available for sale and you should be ashamed. I wish zero stars was an option. Merry Christmas.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor instructions We used this kit with the Moen Genta tub spout. This worked for us in the end, but the instructions on the packaging are very poor. The instructions do not state where to use the flat rubber washer, and the white tape. There is also an extra threaded plastic peice in the package that is not mentioned in the instructions at all. We figured out where to put the washer and the tape but we still had a leak at the wall when pulling on the shower diverter. After several attempts, what we found is that if you follow the instructions, this will not work. The small grey bushing that is supposed to go against the shower wall does not end up threading fully into the adapter in the tub spout and you will end up with a leak. Perhaps the Moen Genta tub spout we were using was too long and this is why following the instructions with this kit did not work, but you would think a Moen adapter kit would work with all Moen tub spouts. In order to make this work, we had to thread the small grey bushing onto the adapter tightly first, and then push it onto the copper pipe, then tighten the set screw. The bushing ends up sitting about 3/4 inch off the shower wall.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Deseigned by fools who have never used the product The threaded to 1/2" copper adapter must be installed behind the wall due to the location of the locking pin. This necessitates inserting the allan key into the wall. In order to do so, you must cut a hole in the wall larger than the spout can cover. Therefore it needs to be done during rough-in... At the stage you simply install the correct piping such that you don't need this adapter in the first place. Idiotic. The solution is to grind down the short end of the allan key so that it can be inserted into a much smaller hole, to tighten the locking pin on the adapter. The person who designed this must have known this or been lazy and stupid. They should supply a suitable tool rather than a completely useless one that can not do the job. How is this for sale at the largest reno retailer in North America??

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage Half a bucket of water is what I mopped in the basement after installing on both tubs. The adapter does is poor designed and allows water to escape through pushing past behind the Allan srew into the ruffed out hole behind the shower. If only I knew of these reviews I would saved a head ache. Now what do I do?

Just brought this kit, is the Teflon tape supposed to be applied on the adapter itself, or on the pipe? Also, where should the o-ring be placed?

Asked by: hf92
Thank you so much for your interest in Moen products. The M1498 adapter kit includes Teflon tape to be applied to the adapter. The flat black washer installs into the back of the adapter before the bushing threads in.
