These Canadian made blackout roller shades are made with 4 ply vinyl fabric. The 4ply Vinyl provides an extra layer for increased durability and longevity of the shade. As a result of the extra layer, the front and back of the fabric will have a smooth appearance for a uniform look from both interior and exterior of the window. The fabric blocks the light making this an ideal window covering for bedrooms, nurseries, maed rooms and any other room where no light is desired. The open roll design of these shades provides a classic look and can pair very well with drapery. The chain operation allows for easy raising and lowering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality blackout shades I’m quite happy with these roller shades. I bought the 21” x 36” long shades. The shade fabric is actually 19-1/2” wide, so there is a ‘gap’ on each side. I put 2” wide gaffer tape on each edge of the window to give me a better ‘blackout’. The total width installed in my window frame was 20-1/2”. The chain-drive end of the roller is the wide end at 2-1/2” dia.The mounting brackets allow either top-mount or side mount. There is extra fabric on the roll … I was able to extend my 36” shade down approx. 45”. The installation instructions don’t make much sense until you’ve done it once (pictures only), but you can find better instructions on the manufacturer’s website.

Do you order the size according to the window (glass to glass) width or the width from wall to wall where it will be mounted?  I have a 49 inch window but another 3 inches on either side before I have a wall to mount it to.

The blind will come in the size that you order and includes the space for the installation brackets. If you will be mounting the shades at a 55" distance, you need to order a 55" blind.

Are we able to mount these blinds outside the window frame? ie above the window trim or to the outside edges of the window trim? Not sure what the installation brackets are like.

Yes. You can mount the brackets to the trim, wall or ceiling when installing outside the window frame.
