Rated 2 out of 5 by from Buyer beware! I’ve had this camera over a year. The video quality is okay and the view area is good. What I was really unhappy about is the ring plan trial lasts a month, then you need to pay a monthly subscription fee. Just to get relevant motion alerts for a device you already paid for. During the trial, I would get alerts for people detection which was why I purchased the camera. When the trial ended, I was barraged with alerts every minute for: a shadow moved outside, a leaf blew on the tree, etc etc. it was as though the sensitivity skyrocketed to annoy you enough to pay for the subscription. It’s not worth the value to pay the fee, so it’s nearly useless now. Regrets.

I am interested in placing this camera at the front window and wanted to know if this would still provide me with quality pictures of anyone coming to my front door.

It depends on the lighting. I put one in a window to watch my shed. Works great all day but at night the reflection of the camera from the window is all you can see.

Can this be run by battery or do you have to plug it in?
