Rated 4 out of 5 by from RYOBI 1/4 Sheet Pad Sander After doing some light sanding with the sandpaper provided with the sander, and then with some sandpaper I found at home, I was quite unhappy with my purchase. I found it very difficult to affix the sandpaper to the sander using the clips, and the sandpaper lasted only a couple minutes, since it would tear at the ends. I then bought some 1/4 sheets of higher quality Diablo sandpaper with adhesive backing. Now, it works exceptionally well. The better sandpaper is longer lasting and does not rip or tear; the sander now does a great job. I suspect this is why the round version of this Ryobi sander with hoop and loop sandpaper attachment has received far superior reviews.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not such a bad tool, but... I had it for 2 years and was using it ocasionally, light duty I would say. Then a spring clamp broke (a wire which holds sandpaper in place). Funny thing is that it is not possible to find this part (cost $1.61) in Canada. I tried to order part on RYOBI web site, it redirected me to some US parts provider and they put me on a waiting list for the part. After 2 months they told me that part is in stock but shipment is going to cost me $34 USD. So I had to cancel order and buy another sander. So the bottom part is that RYOBI sander is a good device, I was pretty happy with it when it worked but if something (even smallest and cheapest part) is broken then don't waste time trying to fix it. Next time I would buy some decent Makita or Bosch or other good name sander it will save me money and time on the long run.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Major disappointment Debated buying this or a 'mouse sander'. Bought this one and within 15 minutes I'm thinking I will see if they will take it back. Clips don't feel like they'll last long. Sandpaper supplied ripped apart very quickly. My guess is that it might be ok for a little bit of small hobby work but anything bigger don't waster your time and money. Very disappointing for a Ryobi which I usually find to be moderate quality.

Pad wore out in no time and ruined a piece of mahogany Screws came threw the pad and sandpaper and scratched my tabletop I returned it and they replaced it with a Rigid that was worth more money and did not charge me the differance Thank You Home Depot

Which sander is best for cabinet doors?

I am a first time user and I have absolutely no idea where to begin.
Asked by: Anonymous
For flat surfaces and all purpose sanding the random orbit is best. You dont have to worry about the grain. If you need to get into corners, then the 1/4 sheet is best. Remember to always work your way up through the grits when doing any job up to 220.
