Rated 3 out of 5 by from Broke within the first Hour of use I brought the saw home, read the manual, set it up and realized it was missing pieces for the handle that needs to be assembled. I was still able to go about using it, so I did for about 45 minutes. I was ripping a piece of wood about 1/2” thick and there was a knot and the wood broke, it then got caught by the blade under the throat plate and broke the throat plate. If you look up anywhere the model for this saw, it will be very hard to find. Even on the Ryobi website, it can’t get a result for RTS08 which is the model. Also trying to replace that piece seems impossible. It seemed to cut fine and work well until that happened.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from He couldn't wait any longer for its value. Good saw for the builder, but not for cabinetmakers; I checked 3 units and they all had a curve in the center, with this defect you will never get a perfect cut in small furniture details, I regret not having reviewed mine in time, I used it after 8 months of buying, this defect forces me to sell this small saw, but if you build or remodel houses this can be an obsession, even if you take into account that it is 13amp and if it is short of power for some demanding cuts.another thing is the fabric that is so that the wood dust does not go out to the motor, it is useless, it is rigid and in the first move to the angle of 45 ° it broke.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for a DIY person Great table saw for the homeowner, not heavy duty but the price will indicate that....you usually get what you pay for, but in this case the DIY person gets great value. It cuts well but don’t try to push it too hard, let it do it’s thing and and you will find that it’s a very capable addition to you tool collection. It’s light weight makes it easy to use, move around and store. Highly recommend this table saw...5 stars

Rated 1 out of 5 by from pointless I don't see the point of having a table saw that has so little precision. Sure it is cheap, but the results I got were so bad that it would be possible to have better results with a circular saw, without having to deal with the safety issues of a table saw! So, for a list of problems: - There's just one single mitre groove! - The only mitre groove is a proprietary size! Nothing will fit there, neither a T-slot accessory or a regular groove accessory, like a store bought featherboard - So the manual suggestions to use a featherboard are to clamp them on the table. But the bottom of the table is VERY irregular, making it really hard to clamp anything where you actually need it. Also, the rip fence is pretty small, so you will have a real hard time to attach a featherboard there to press the wood down - It's A LOT of work on the user's side to ensure the rip fence is parallel to the blade With a terrible rip fence and a super hard experience to set a featherboard, you are inviting kickbacks. For a minor issue I could live with on a table saw, I'd also say the lack of a soft start is very annoying. So bottom line is sure, it's nice to be able to buy a cheaper saw, but what's the point of having a table saw that is so hard to use in a safe way? A circular saw plus a few jigs would allow you to do all this table does, for a similar price and in a much more safe way.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent for rough work Got this to do cut up some leftover lumber I had, worked with no problems. Later I tried to use it to do some work requiring more precise cuts, and couldn't get the angles to match up, and after days of fiddling and adjusting I noticed severe bowing in the saw top. I wasn't sure if this was a defect or within norm so I contacted Ryobi, no reply over half a year later. Overall I'd say it's decent for rough DIY work, but if you're looking to make nicer furniture look for a saw with a cast iron top, not one with sheet metal like this one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth it. I was attracted by the price but in the end, I had this for about a week before I returned it. The fence system is really finnicky and takes a lot of work to get it straight. I had a ton of trouble with the lever for the riving knife. It was impossible to get it to clamp down at times. When making a miter cut the angle would change between cuts or even slightly mid cut.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good table saw I am DIY senior. It was easy to set up. Used it and found to function well and decently accurate. The advice on safety features is very useful. Though there is a vaccum exracting outlet for saw dust , I found there is still dust getting scattered from underneath, may be a better extractor is needed. I am happy with this item and can recommend to anyone (I found this item to be more useful to me than the 12" massive mitresaw received as a gift)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap table saw with serious quality issues I bought this saw a couple a weeks ago and I have been having difficulty time with the following: 1. The fence: when you tighten it, one end shifts over by approx 1/8 of an inch or more. This results in cuts that are not square if you dont notice. Getting it squared is time consuming no matter what I try. The fence also has a small rivet where the lock lever is situated and it sticks out. This rivet does not allow you square up the piece to the fence when starting your cut , it causes the piece to shift over until you get passed the rivet . There is no way to fix this other than aggressively filing the metal down. 2. Adjusting the saw blade: Getting the blade to 90 degrees takes time and patience , and getting a 45 degree angle is no different. I find that I am constantly checking the angles and having to adjust often to make sure my cuts are accurate. I have had to re-cut quite a few times now do to the cuts not being 90 degrees, this is a waste of time and material. 3. Riving knife is either twisted or bent , it wont sit straight behind the saw blade and at times jams the piece Im cutting and I have to force it through or turn off the saw a removing the stuck piece. This is not safe and can lead to kick back if you are not paying attention or you have to push hard to get the pice to move. This ones has me a little scared to be honest . I feel its only a matter of time before something goes really wrong and I end with a serous injury etc. 4. The miter slots are not even , found this out when making a sled, had to file down the metal to allow the sled track to move smoothly. One end is narrower and shallower than the other . Im now getting to the point where I may return this saw and upgrade to a different brand altogether. Especially because of the fence and riving knife issues, Im concerned for my own safety and dont want to take chances with poorly made power tools.

With such a small surface area I assume you need a couple people if you are going to cut a 4x8 sheet of plywood. There does not appear to be any supports to handle large pieces and keep the cut moving evenly - correct?

Asked by: KenJ
That is correct, you will definitely need an extra set of hands. Been loving this saw though, highly recommend if you’re into DIY projects.

Can this be used to cut porcelain tile and/or ceramic tile?

Asked by: PNguyen
Hi -PNguyen, Thanks for reaching out to us. This 8-1/4" Table saw is use for a large variety of cutting needs. When cutting tiles or stone you need to have water involved to lubricate the material and blade. We always recommend our wet tile saws that can be found on homdepot.ca. We hope this helps! Thanks, RYOBI Canada.

Is this table saw good enough for cutting the laminate floor (home project)?

Asked by: Steven
Yes it is but a chopsaw would work better just make sure of the width the saw can cut. Either one will work

Can I use this table saw to cut a 4 by 4 cedar post?

Asked by: Question boy
Frankly I do not know, I never tried it. I think if you cannot cut it from one side, you may cut it twice by flipping it.
