We have lots of curbing and borders to trim and this is perfect. Normally we would have to haul out the long extension cord to do our trimming and usually we would just forget it until it got really bad. Now I can grab the trimmer for just a few seconds trimming as it is so easy. The yard is always nice and neat now. The product is light and the batter keeps its charge must longer than we need to do the entire yard. So far, along with the battery-powered lawn mower we are extremely happy with our new products.

Easy to use - comfortable shape and well balanced. the interchangeable battery system with other Ryobi products is a huge plus! The charging of the battery extremely well set up and fast! My first trimming was heavy as I was without a trimmer for my first two spring cuts (Yard Works failed) and it walked through the heavy grass - had to do one recharge but it was very quick - under 1 hour to get power back. Lithium way better than the old ni-cad batteries. Can't beat this unit for the price range.

I am a senior lady who needed a trimmer for light jobs around flower beds, trees etc. We have an acre of cleared land and the perimeter will still require a larger grass trimmer which the neighbour kids will do. Used it for the first time yesterday and just love it. The only problem is the short battery life but this could be due in part to it being the first trim of the season and the grass being dense. The battery charged quickly and I was able to complete this large job to my satisfaction. If you are looking for an easy to handle, lightweight, economical, powerful for the size trimmer, this is it. Also, I assembled this in minutes with no problems at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ryobi weed trimmer I recently bought this trimmer, and it was on sale for $78, original price $119. I would consider this a bit more then a mid-range trimmer. This is wireless, In the box are the rechargeable battery, charger, and the trimmer. The trimmer itself, basically snaps together right out of the box, you do have to screw on the trimmer shield, which is only four screws, and your ready to go!. The battery holds a full charge for about 30 mins, and only takes 1 hr to recharge. This is pretty good compared to others that are available currently at home depot This trimmer is really powerful, it can cut high grass with ease. I also use it to touch up the grass after mowing with a push lawnmower. it operates only, by holding down dual start buttons, one is located on the outside of the handle, and the other is a trigger, which is very ergonomic, and has a secondary handle for the opposite hand.

Luckily it was under warranty so I got it fixed. It’s another thing that the nearest service center was about an hour away. Had to make two trips. One to drop off and another to pick up. It worked well after that for another two seasons before just dying again yesterday. I tried charging the battery but it seems to be dead. Surprising as I am not a very heavy user and don’t charge more than 6-7 times per season. So one would expect the battery to last several more charging cycles. It was good while it lasted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this trimmer!! Going into my second year with this trimmer. Still love it! It's lightweight, easy to handle, and does a great job. The way it's designed also allows you to "flip" the trimmer handle to make it easier to trim edges - I don't use that feature much, but it is handy to have. I've got a set of Ryobi ONE + tools that all use the 18V lithium ion batteries and I've never had a problem. They're all charged, ready to go, and one battery usually allows me to do both my front and rear trimming (if I don't leave it until the grass is 3" or more). Awesome tool for the yard!

On the plus side, it is light and easy to handle (much better than my previous gas model), and there is no fussing with engine maintenance and fuel mix. On the minus side, I only get 12-15 minutes of run time from the battery. That would be fine for a small lot in town, but not for a big rural property like mine. I have ordered a larger battery. The .065 size string works OK on grass, but is a bit thin for some of my weeds. It also uses up the string fairly quickly because of the auto-advance feature every time you pull the trigger.

We had no idea how to change the reel with the string. Off to Home Depot in Red Deer AB with the trimmer/ Edger. I can not say enough how friendly and helpful the staff is. The lady who works in isle 42 helped us and explained all about our Ryobi. Turns out no threading of string, just pop in new reel. Waiting in line to pay for our reels three people asked us how we liked the Ryobi products. Was a great day

How do I get it to NOT release new line every time I stop and start? I stop using it while walking between trees, etc. And it keeps putting out new line every time, so of course it is eating it up way too quickly. Will return if can't fix this:(

Yes, provided your drill and reciprocating saw are 18 volts.  I have both of those tools and my trimmer fits the same battery so yours should too.
