Putting down lime? Fertilizing? This spreader has you covered! The rate of application is quickly and easily set simply by turning the setting dial and the spreader will hold material until the trigger handle is engaged preventing wastage of product when turning and positioning the spreader. Don't worry about wasting product or spreading beyond the desired area, this spreader is highly accurate and easy to handle.

Must be making them out of lower quality materials these days. My first one lasted 3 summers 0r 9 applications. The cable snapped and the handle broke at the rivot.. Hope the new one lasts longer and the first one was a dud! Scott's usually makes superb products......

Can you use this to spread top dressing/sand?

The sand is smaller than most seeds or fertilizers, so it should work. My concern would be the weight, it could be too much and the spreader wasn't designed for it. You would have to use a small amount at the time.

The only thing I see is the open/close handle at the top of the handle, where is the dial to adjust the amount of spreading from overseeding to fertilizer? Can you provide a picture of this dial?? If it is just a open/close handle, it seems pretty uaeless

The micrometer, which is what is used to adjust the setting is located in the housing just below the control handle. This spreader has settings from 2 to 18.

Can this be used to spread prilled lime?

Scotts Turf Builder Classic Drop Spreader can be used to spread powdered or pelletized lime. Lime applications are based on the amount needed to balance the soil as determined by a pH soil test.

Yes, it is adjustable.  It's not really a "spreader" though.  It just drops straight down.  Perfect for controlling exactly where you deposit but more time consuming that a broadcast spreader.

We do not recommend using this spreader to apply sand. Sand is too heavy and can damage the spreader.
