Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice idea but could not install I bought these to swap out the 2.5" hard plastic wheels on my office chair to use on my hardwood floor. Unfortunately, when I tried to install the adapter stem on the wheels, I couldn't install the pin on 2 of the adapter because the holes didn't line up. On the adapters sleeves where I could insert the pin, 2 were so loose they fell out.

Can I replace an old set of 21/2" casters with new set of 2' (Model #8748) casters on a sofa which is 30 years old?

Are these casters suitable for hard wood floors. The description is for hard floor surfaces but that may not be the same as for hard wood floors. what makes these universal? the stem looks approx size to what I currently have.
