This lead-free brass compression fitting is ideal for use with copper, brass, aluminum, or plastic tubing on gasoline, grease, oil, water, vacuum and air lines. Choosing a lead-free brass compression fitting ensures safety and peace of mind for years to come. It is not recommended for use with steel tubing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great, with a 6mm beveled washer I bought 4 of these to cap off old supply lines during a reno. You can't use them just by themselves. You need a beveled washer, just like in the connectors. Actual OD is 1/2 for a 3/8 cap. Make sure the bevel faces the connection.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Incomplete Product The product should not be sold as functional, without a rubber seal to fit inside the cap. As packaged and sold - it will leak. If it had a rubber seal - it would not leak. Workaround is to fashion yourself a rubber seal and insert into the cap. Then thread it on firmly and you are all set.

I have a standard 1/4 shutoff / ball valves for my vanity, and even in full shutoff they are leaking. While I renovate, I want to use these to cap where the supply lines would normally connect. Will this work? Teflon tape?

Hi, Thank you for your question. The Vendor have confirmed that this product is compatible with a 1/4 turn stop with a 3/8" compression connection. The vendor do not recommend tp use teflon tape or pipe dope on any compression connection as the tape will not allow the fitting to seal correctly.

Does it need a washer gasket to prevent leaking? What’s the size of the washer?

1. This is part of a group of compression fittings. Compression fittings form a water tight seal using a piece of copper shaped roughly like an inverse egg timer. The copper insert is wide in the middle forcing it to be compressed between the 2 pieces you are joining together. 2. This actual piece you are asking about is an end cap. I tend to wrap the male threads the end caps is screwing onto with 3 to 5 layers of Teflon tape. 3. You should be able to start screwing the end cap on by hand and only use wrenches to tighten the connections. This is so you don't cross thread it. (Put it on crocked using a wrench and damage the threads.) 4. If you are having a hard time picturing what I've described ask the plumbing associate to show you in store. You may have to wait a few minutes while they serve another customer. But once you see this done I doubt you'll forgot it for the rest of your life.
