Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value There are some great pellet grills on the market like Mak and Yoder but they are in the $4000 range and not readily available in Canada. Enter the Traeger Ironwood. It's double sidewalled for cold weather cooks, has no under cabinet that requires cleaning, has a large hopper with a light and pellet level indicator, strong DC motor auger, and a great app with good connectivity. I've been using it at least once a week, 52 weeks a year rain snow or shine and in -30 degree weather. At this price I'd put the Ironwood at the top if my list. After 2 years it still connects great and works like day 1. Compared to previous uninsulated grills I've owned there is no comparison. The Ironwood outperforms them all, has rock steady temperatures, performs great in low temps and has great wifi and app performance. Build quality is top notch with heavy guage steel and no wobble or play. Recommemded to all Canadians unless you want to spend double to mail order a better grill from the US. Traeger hit a homerun on this grill at this price point.

Simple to get up and running, simple to learn-as-you-go. Meat Church and the info available on the app bypasses much of the initial considerations and gets you experimenting. It’s been running regularly since and we have honestly never eaten so well. I am not one for phone pics but it’s hard not to want to share the art that comes out of this thing. Just get one.

The fact that you can put your food on and monitor it through the app, change the temperature of the cooking, and move it to keep warm all from your phone is a game changer. No more going out in crappy weather for this. The meat thermometer ensures you get a perfect cook every time. And the monitoring of the hopper through the phone is amazing. You don't have to worry about running out of pellets. I love my smoker!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don’t rely on the meat probe. The integrated meat probe is not accurate at all even after calibration. Customer service was terrible and dismissed me after telling me: the probe reads 32F in a glass of ice water then it’s fine. When your probe tells you chicken is at 165F but when you check it with another thermometer only to realize it’s at 135F… this is not safe. I am disappointed a smoker that expensive cannot even have an accurate meat probe.

Does this grill have the double wall construction?

It has double side walls but not the cover. This is the least expensive pellet grill I know of with double side walls. It out performs my previous uninsulated grills in cold temps. Great value compared to morecexpensive options like Yoder and Mak.
