Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product worked; couldn’t open the top. By the power of grayskull, I simply could not unscrew the safety top, no matter how hard I tried. I had to pop off the cover, so it’s no longer safe for my (imaginary) children. The product applied well on a teak piece I was refinishing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best overall for wood finish I was always stuck between choosing a product like Tung oil that made the wood look great but offer it little to no protection or lacquer / polyurethane that gives the wood good protection but makes it look "plasticky' and artificial. Tthen I found Danish oil which gives good protection to the wood and also really brings out the grain of the wood. The Cherry tint has really made my pine / cherry wood projects stand out. I am glad I have found this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Danish oil review I used this on new unpainted maple and it brought out the beautiful detail in the wood. Easy to apply (wear rubber gloves!) get into the corners with a brush and wipe surface residue free with clean cloth. Best results and health concerns when applied and dried outside in the summer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing Followed the instructions to a T. Applied the oil to a new knotty alder exterior door. Applied one coat and wiped off the access. allowed 48 of drying time to ensure it was dry. Sanded lightly and cleaned it and applied a 2 coat, left it on for about 15 mins and wiped the access off etc. Should have stopped there! When I sanded and applied the 3rd coat in the same way, wiped everything off, the next day it had became gummy and sticky. A week later and it still wouldn’t dry. It wouldn’t even sand. The sand paper became all gummed up within a few passes. I finally had to use a scraper and sanding to remove everything, To the bare wood. After hours of frustration Left a nice colour on the wood and I just used Spar urethane on top. On second door I just used one coat for colour and 2 days later urethane, directly. Would have been quicker and easier to just use stain and urethane.

can this be applied for the surfaces in a sauna?

Asked by: richard
Hi Richard, Great question! We do not believe our Watco Danish Oil will hold up in a sauna. We would rather recommend our Varathane Natural Oil, which is great for rooms with high humidity.

Bonjour, puis je utiliser huile danoise de finition noyer foncer sur un comptoir de cuisine et si oui dois je appliquer autre chose pour le protéger de eau.

Asked by: gab57

Would this be food safe for a butcher block countertop? or Should the watco countertop finish be used after using danish oil?

Asked by: Anne
The Watco Danish Oil dries to a non-toxic finish, but has not been tested for food safety with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Using a Butcher Block Oil over the Danish Oil would not necessarily render it food safe. If safety for direct contact with food is required, use the Watco Butcher Block Oil only.
