Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life saver on a dime! declog shower drain 30mins I cannot express better words on this small but efficient tool. If you got a clog in the shower, tub, sink drain, this should work for you! Just unlock, insert, lock and turn when block, pull back, clean, and repeat! a little surprise during the cleaning phase, the whole cable comes out of the drum. After open the drum, it is easy to just put it back. No need to follow other brand's youtube to bend the cable. the cable just sits in the drum nicely. I would give a 6 star just for the decent price and simple design to get the job done! Always try this tool before renting a power snake. I cannot tell if this will work for toilet clog. Probably not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this is a superior tool How to avoid rookie errors: !. Learn where the instructions are. Yes, there are instructions. Look at the corners of the yellow label and find a tiny peel back icon. Peel off the overlay and the instructions are underneath. 2. What happens if you forget the level lock and the snake falls onto the floor? The snake is not attached to the drum. It's held in place by the level lock. A few inches before the end, the snake is slightly fatter so it should stop. However, if the snake does falls out, simply reinsert into the drum and remember to use the level lock. 3. You know where's it's been so the snake is going to be dirty after use. Rinse with water then wipe dry. The snake is ferrous metal and it will rust if you do not wipe dry. Wipe It Dry. 4. I wipe the snake dry then spray WD40 on it. WD40 is a water repellant formula and if it's good enough for NASA, it's good enough for me. For extra protection, I use any oil in my tool box and wipe it over the snake because this snake is so good, it's going to be a long time before I use it again. The beauty of this snake is not that you can use an electric drill. It's the larger diameter. The drum is larger and if you crank by hand, the larger diameter gives more torque to snake pass awkward connections. It's so easy I didn't need a drill. The drum splits in half with 4 Phillips screws: use a hair dryer to peel back the yellow label and the screws are exposed. The lever lock and pistol grip are ergonomic. The spindle for the electric drip can graze knuckles to crank by hand so keep your knuckles clear. This tool works great. I cleared a sewer line that a professional plumber charging $190/hour could not clear after 3 hours of trying. Maybe I'm smarter but for sure I have the smarter tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very well if you use it properly I bought this Drum Auger this morning and cleared a terrible fully clogged kitchen sink in my rental property. Had to use about 18ft of snake. Some tips: - Hold the pistol grip firmly and support the weight of the tool always. Don't let it hang from the power drill. - Go slowly with the speed on the drill and moving the snake into the pipe with only 4-6" at a time. - Once you feel the clog, work that area back and forth slowly. - Keep slowly spinning the snake while pulling it back out. Cleaning it with a rag. - Once it's all out and recoiled into the drum, pull out the amount of snake you used and OIL THE SNAKE. I used just regular cheap motor oil because its what I had. This will prevent rust and increase the life of the tool. Once the snake is oiled it takes a bit more effort to put it back into the drum because its all lubricated. Not really a negative since the oil is doing its job. I can't imagine spinning this by hand. You would definitely be sore and probably not get the whole clog. This tool saved me from calling the plumber and has already paid for itself many times over with just one use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor wire quality bought this tool based on Home Depot recommendation and used just once to clear the clog. Then, cleaned the wire by water and put the wire on the backyard concret floor and let it dry per the instruction. The next day I were planning to put the wire back to the case and store for next time use, but found there were a lot of rust on the wire after just about ten minutes usage. The bad thing is Home Depot even won't take such poor wire quality tool back. Don't know the meaning of one year warranty means here.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Two uses Got to use it twice. The cable has a bend in it that makes it impossible to use now with tricky drains.

My question is my blockage might be in the 2" lines or possibly the 4" line. My toilet will not unclog. If the blockage is in the 4" line will this auger at least help me unclog the line?

Asked by: Dean
Yes it will do if it reaches and if you use the drill to whip it around. The drill does much better job spinning the snake than spinning it manually. Ensure to feed the snake a bit at a time (1 foot or less), let it spin for 20 seconds or so, then push anther bit until it is all cleared. If it does not reach the clogged area, try to use a different access.
