The RIDGID 14-Piece Black Oxide Drill Bit Set is ideal for drilling into metal, wood or plastic. The COLD fire cryogenic treatment is a patented technology for making metals stronger and more durable resulting in 150% longer bit life. The bits are coated with black oxide for durability and are equipped with 135-degree split points to prevent walking as you drill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best bits ever I bought this set about 6 months ago, and even now after very heavy use, it is still just like new. the bits are good for wood, metal and plastic. it is in my opinion the best drill bits you can buy if you drill a lot of metal. They boar through wood and plastic just as well. I say great for metal because their the first bit's that don't jump around or wiggle all over the place and ruin your project. The larger bits are not round at the chuck end, thus insuring they don't slip in your drill (ya know we all hate that). I have bought hundreds of other bits in the past and though some are better than others, these Ridgid drill bits are by far the best. If I DO ever manage to wear them out, I'll be grabbing another set right away. I'll never waste another minute shopping around for bits again, now I know exactly what I want.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Small bits breaking I just opened this up for usage on my wooden fence and the small 3/32 bit snapped in half after drilling a few holes. I expected this product to last longer. During my first use, I have a snapped bit. Disappointing and I’m hoping I can get a refund or some sort of warranty applied for the ridgid product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from These bits go dull quickly I bought this kit because it was only a few dollars more than a single 1/2" bit. I needed to drill eight 1/2" holes in a piece of 3/16 hot rolled flat steel but the 1/2" bit from this kit managed only 3 1/2 holes before going completely dull.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage Usually you can trust in Ridgid but these bits are garbage. The smaller sizes snap really easy and aren't even straight. They go dull really fast, I probably wouldn't use them for anything more then wood. If I could, I'd return them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from the 1/8 inch drill broke in half Not very sturdy. the bigger drills are okay ,but the smaller ones will break. I was drilling solid wood, and the 1/8 inch drill broke. Does not look like made of good metal. Probably just plastic with metal coating.
