Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sufficient power & battery. Improvements needed Assembling it from the box was fairly straightforward. My biggest annoyance was that the connection of the upper and lower shaft required screw-in into plastic without pre-made threads. It was a blind effort that I feared would break something. It has sufficient power and fantastic battery (~20 to 30 min) on low speed with the included 0.08" line to cut high grass and medium sized plants in my small yard. My peeve here is the debris shield is tiny! Even following the instructions to cut in a right-to-left swathe entirely covered my lower legs with plant clippings. To improve the trimmer, Ryobi should revise the assembly, widen the debris shield, and lower the weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NO DISCERNABLE FLAWS I have used it a few times with my P102 batteries, note that is plural. I would have given it 5 stars had: HD brought the tool only model in when it was released in the USA rather than a year later. That HD carried this model in store at more than two stores in the GTA Ryobi advised that the P102 is not a capable of running the tool even at low speed for any appreciable amount of time say the amount it takes to do a average residential corner lot as I would have purchased the P2090 with the 4ah battery and sold my P102 batteries and charger. All that said it is easy to handle, is fairly quiet, and appear to be well made. The only operational glitch I found was that the safety binds if you depress it before the trigger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight but Powerful Much more power than the smaller Ryobi 18V model. Completes the job faster and more easily, but also goes thru a large 4Ah battery in about 10-15 minutes of continuous use. Best to have 2 batteries ready. The batteries also load more easily on this model and the hand grip is MUCH more comfortable. I also like the way to add string. The winding tool is relatively fast to master and string is way cheaper than the pre-loaded packs for the smaller models. I considered the 40 V model but I use the 18V One+ batteries for other tools. Very happy after 2 months use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the Ryobi ONE+ I have now used the trimmer twice on my lawn. I find it is not as powerful as my gas trimmer was, but it certainly does the job. I also find the string advance feature is very stiff. I felt like I was slamming the spool onto the ground forcefully to get the string to advance. I am worried I will break it, so I end up pushing the spool with my hand and pulling the string out myself. That being said, I am thrilled in my little effort to help the planet. I love the Ryobi One + family of tools. They are great for homeowners and are reasonably priced.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT durable at all - Disappointing This trimmer was purchased from Home Depot in June 2019 - This is August of 2019 - The total time of usage is less than 6 months between seasons. And it stopped working. Getting warranty from RYOBI is a joke: I am expected to drive 1h to their nearest service facility (which is an independant repair shop), I am expected to leave the tool there for however long it takes to be assessed (2 weeks is the minimum) and then hope for the best from there. Then of course, I have to drive back 1h for the resolution. Really??? Of course Home Depot has nothing to do with addressing the warranty. They just sell the tool. Really? I believe in buying tools and shop in a brick and mortar store to save jobs and have at least an glimmer of customer service. Clearly, it does not apply. This will prevent me from buying ANY Ryobi tools in the future for their lack of customer care.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK Trimmer, included charger sucks I bought this because of the name. I normally only buy Ridgid tools but since Ridgid does not make trimmers I thought the next best thing is Ryobi. The trimmer is alright but the charger sucks. It should not take over 3 1/2 hours to charge a 4AH battery. If it didnt come with the second battery I would have returned it. Now I have to spend another $50.00 to get a quick charger. For the price I paid it should have come with the rapid charger. I think this will be my first and last Ryobi purchase. I would not recommend this only because of the charger.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Vibration issue... Pros: Trimmer is well suited to my needs. Good balance for me. Light weight. Battery life is more than ample to do my 1/2 acre lot (I get two cuts on a single charge... about 25 minutes of run time). Ample power. Fairly quick recharge. I like the variable speed. I like the bump and feed line (the auto feed line systems consume way too much line). Line loading system makes it very easy to reload the line. Cons: VIBRATION... I bought one, took it back because it vibrated so badly you could not use it on high speed. Ordered another online because there were none at the store. Second one was the same. Ordered two more before I got one that was usable on the high speed. Not good on Ryobi's part that I needed to buy four (and return three) to get one decent one. It too, vibrates on high speed, but is better than the other three. I only hope it does not get any worse. HD was very good about returning the three I took back. Four star rating is because of vibration on high speed, otherwise I would have given five star.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Trimmer Great little trimmer with good power. Very handy low/high power options. Low allows light weeding while saving the battery. About 35 to 40 mins runtime on one battery. The cordless convenience is a total joy over dragging a cord around! Brushless motor, bumpfeed ( line lasts longer over autofeed) and current free 4Ah battery promo makes this an awesome purchase. ( and of course another 18V One+ batteries/charger system are incredibly handy to have to power up all my other Ryobi tools )

Re: ONE+ 18v batteries. I have a P100 Ni-Cad and a P102 Lithium-ion 1.3Ah for my P102 drill. I'm buying the P2090 trimmer (incl. 18V 4.0A Lithium-ION battery. ) Can I use my existing 2 batteries on the trimmer, and vice versa? Any performance issues?

Hi Ken, With the ONE+ system all of our 18V batteries lithium and NiCad will work with all of our ONE+ tools. Please keep in mind that the old NiCad chargers will not charge our new Lithium batteries. For that you will have to use the intelliport charger included with the string trimmer kit. Will the Ryobi one+ 18 v brushless trimmer be offered in store or online anytime soon (summer of 2020) as it shows out of stock for both? Is this a quality issue with the product, or just product supply issues?  Need to replace old one + trimmer ASAP
