Rated 3 out of 5 by from Planned obsolesce rules This battery came with my RY40108 mower. After 6 years it died and I tried to replace it at my local Home Depot but only 4Ah units were in stock. Sadly when I got home the new 4Ah battery was longer and therefore the battery cover on the mower wouldn't close. When I contacted Ryobi I was told to get the 6Ah OP4060A1 instead. It didn't fit the mower at all. On the next call to Ryobi told me to get 2 2Ah batteries instead as they are the only units that will fit my old mower. However they are $198 each and my mower, original battery and charger only cost $300. This seems to be planned obsolesce and has put me off Ryobi products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 40 Volt - 2.3 Amp hour I purchased a 40 Volt Ryobi Mower two years ago. It came with 2 batteries. Loved the mower but I needed both batteries to cut a very small patch of lawn which was ok, not great. Last summer, I decided to get a get both the edger and a hedge trimmer to avoid buying the extra power that I needed to do my lawn in one try. This was a pricey solution to a "Ryobi Battery" issue. This year, I met with a Ryobi rep at the store and I purchased two 40 volt 5 amp hour batteries during a promotion event. They work great. Since my lawn has lots of clover, you need this kind of power to make a clean cut. This is the power you need to get your lawn and edging done the same day!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY IF YOUR TOOL IS MORE THAN 3 YEARS OLD Ryobi has changed the size of the battery, and, despite what the specs say, it does not fit in my lawnmower (too long for the battery compartment) or snowblower (both too wide and too long). I am returning the battery, and when my other battery dies, I will have to buy another brand of mower and snowblower whose maker does not practice forced obsolescence. It's too bad, because I really love both my mower and my snowblower, and have had no problems with them for 6 years, but soon I won't be able to use them for lack of a battery.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Battery size has increased I just purchased this 5 Ah Ryobi battery as an addition to the 5 Ah battery that I already have for my Ryobi mower, snow thrower and lawn edger, all purchased a few years ago. My existing battery fits all of these tools, but this new battery is slightly higher and hence does not fit into the snow thrower. The description of the battery on the Home Depot site includes: "This battery works with all RYOBI 40-Volt tools and chargers." - obviously not true. What gives, Ryobi?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Charged Bought this 5 Amp Hour High Capacity Battery as a second battery to go along with our last years purchase of the Ryobi cordless lawnmower that came with a 2.6 Amp battery. The 5 Amp battery is more than sufficient to power the lawnmower on our 100'x100' property. The original 2.6 Amp battery has performed the task in ideal conditions, but the 5 Amp is definitely the number one go to for a start to finish job without needing a charge/battery swap. Very pleased with this cordless option which in my opinion is equivalent to the gas version, without the mess/weight!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Important durability issues These battery have an important durability issue. I bought a Ryobi landmower, a trimmer and the 40v chainsaw. I really appreciated that every tools were using the same battery. During the first year of light home use, every single battery failed. Ryobi will happily replace them under warranty. When the warranty is over, they are not interested in helping you and you are expected to buy new overpriced batteries like this one. The price is totally unfair regarding the durability of these batteries. If I decide to replace the batteries of these 3 tools, it would cost about 650$ excluding taxes. And these batteries would probably fail too. Instead, I plan to get rid of all my Ryobi tools. It would not be smart to spend this amount of money for something that will quickly fail. I sent an email to Ryobi asking for help but they did not even reply to it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Battery does not fit mower despite Ryobi claims. I have a 4 year old Ryobi mower. RY40108. The battery is dead. Started dying last year. It's a 5ah battery. The store recommended a 6ah as they said the 5ah is not made. The 6ah does not fit the mower, despite claims that all 40V fit Ryobi mowers. NOT TRUE. I see this 5ah, but only available online. Do I risk buying it only to be disappointed again? What battery fits for the same or better performance that I was getting for the first 2.5 years. M

How long to charge a fully depleted battery?

Does a 40 volt 5 amp battery allow the tool/lawn mower etc to run stronger/better performance vs a 40 volt 4 amp battery or will it just give a longer run time?

I don’t find that using the 5AH battery from my lawnmower in my chainsaw gives it more power but the chainsaw certainly runs longer than with my 2.4AH battery.

My Dad bought Ryobi Lawn mower 2 years ago & the battery this year has stopped charging. Called for a replacement but was told battery number was not shipped with existing mower?? It was SKU#OP40504 (E421263N110448)

I am not sure I quite understand what is going on but I was able to order a replacement battery online for my RYOBI Lawnmower and it works just fine. In fact, it's the second battery I have purchased, as the lawnmower is 5+ years old. I ordered online and picked-up in store and you can drop of the battery for recycling to be refurbished.
