Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fait de plastique!!!!!!! Désolé Ridgid mais cela obtient un 1 étoile !! Le carter du moteur est en plastique, la partie inférieure du carter semble plus grande que le haut et cela rend le réglage très difficile, le premier 1/2 pouce est très lousse et le reste est raide comme l'enfer !!! J'ai dû limer le collier car il frottait sur le carter du moteur, ce qui rendait les choses un peu meilleures mais toujours trop rigides, si je lousse le collier pour permettre une ajustement plus facile le moteur lui devient trop lousse. C'est le deuxième routeur de Ridgid que j'achètre, le premier manquait des pièces alors jai retourner le deuxième lui l'ajustement est très difficile, j'aurais du choisir le Milwaukee aulieu du Ridgid, au moin lui le moteur est en métal!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I think it is safer. I think a cordless router is safer, as there is no cord to get caught as you move the router over your workpiece. This is a nice compact unit. The power switch is kind of awkward (pull to turn on) and will take some getting used to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Feels solid, time will tell Just bought the unit today. Obviously haven't yet tried to use it, but was a bit disappointed that the manual has very little information on the accessories and where it does the explanations are hard to find and decipher. Love to see just a little more imagery. It feels like the product package designer was give too strict a demand to make the package very small and omit handy how to assemble, how to use sorts of information. Not really a big gripe, but I didn't feel like I needed to spend so much time just figuring out how to install the dust collector.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a woodworking router, just a laminate trimmer This is not really a router, it is advertised as router but it is really just a laminate trimmer. It couldn't go through 3/4 cut 1/8 deep without burning the motor after 3 cuts only. At least it is brand new so going back to the store for warranty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I no longer recommend this router After a few weeks of usage, I have determined it is not suitable for anything. Due to the design of the base, the router bit will never be centred in the base plate. That's ok if you are using router bits with bearings (provide their own reference surface), but otherwise, your cuts will wander based on what part of the base you are referencing. I tried two different routers, but they both had the same problem. But even worse, the bits drop down during the cut, no matter how much I tighten the collet (and yes, I checked for dust and debris). The collet itself is quite insubstantial with a single open slot. I don't know if that's the reason, but it's super dangerous if the bit were to come out during operation, not to mention the variable depth of whatever you were cutting. The design problems remain unchanged: The base plate does not take template collars and the dust accessory requires you to remove the base plate to install.

The holes are just a little off, so it's difficult to swap plates; the circular plate seems even worse. Neither plate was engineered with the standard template guide holder hole - the hole is too large, and has no indent. What were they thinking??? It would have taken zero effort an cost.

Does this router come with a zipper bag like so many ridgid tools come in?

Update: the router came in and it has a bag. It wasn’t listed in the description though another ridgid router set did have it listed. Glad it does so I can store it nicely and keep all the parts together. Thanks for your replies.

Does this router have variable speed?

Yes. It has a variable speed knob rated 1 though 7. It's like from ½ speed to double speed (3 being normal speed). I don't know it's exact rpm.

I am looking to by the Ridgid cordless router. I currently have other ridgid tools and am very impressed with them. I would like to know if I can attach this router to a router table, it looks like a master craft table.

It does work with several router tables including the RYOBI router table. We have not used it or tested it with Master Craft products.
