Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just another ridgid battery ... I just picked up a set of these batterys thinking the hype around max output would mean something but in my case it did not. I own a octane 1/2 inch mid torque impact and I use it all day everyday. I was hoping these batteries would be like the octane batterys and out preform the basic 4ah lithium batteries ridgid has always had, but to be honest I found no difference in run time or output of the tool . Maybe they will help other tools on the ridgid line but in my case it was a waste of money . Wasn't looking for a massive difference but a little something would be nice...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to the platform It’s a battery, it works excellent like batteries I have from other platforms. I like that it’s not quite as bulky as some other 9Ah batteries. Weight is a pretty decent and footprint reasonable. Puts the final nail on Octane’s coffin - this sucker delivers the beans. Great for saws, impacts, or long duration yardwork. One odd experience - I didn’t really feel any difference in power vs the 6aH batteries in my Chainsaw. Not sure the if the 6 is just that good or that tool doesn’t benefit that much more from the 21700 cells. You definitely feel it with a recipe or circular saw in tight spots or if you’re creating test courses with an impact wrench. Good reminder we don’t always run near the limit of specs. Still worth it for the runtime.

Mostly I'm happy with the tools, but i have 3 of these 4ah max output batteries and they have all failed within a year. Can no longer charge them they just blink with an error. I didn't register or keep my receipt because I had confidence in the tools based on prior experience. If your buying these make sure you keep your recipt and register the warranty. But better yet, just avoid them

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only Slightly Better than the reg Li-ion's These batteries are not as bad as the regular 4.0 Ah Lithium-Ion Battery but they still have no rubber protection on them for light to medium impact, we all know this happens, Ridgid has gone a very different way from their previous version that are rugged in every way. Definitely not worth the money they are asking. I wouldn't buy these batteries unless they came with a free tool. they just are not worth the trouble.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Batteries fail So far one star, one of the pair of 6ah batteries stopped working after only a couple weeks. This is the 5th rigid battery that I've had fail this year. I didnt do the registration to get the warranty on the others. But ill see if i can get this one replaced. I've invested thousands into the ridgid line amd am starting to regret it due to these batteries being unreliabile.

Have used it on octane drill with ice auger, angle grinder and recipe saw (on metal).Took far to long to come to market, but better late than never. For the difference in size, runtime and power, skip the 6Ah and get this one. You won't be disappointed.

I want to upgrade to the 6amp battery for my drill. the current battery I use now is 1.5 amp will the charger for the 1.5 amp battery charge the new 6 amp battery?

What's the difference between MAX Output 4.0 Ah Battery and the regular 4.0 AH battery.

I’ve used these batteries and I can’t detect any difference from the regular batteries, even on new tools that are supposedly made for max batteries.  Seems to me the name is the only difference.

The max output batteries have an couple extra power connectors on the bottom and provide more amperage to the tool is my guess. You need a compatible tool that accepts the connectors. I believe this was previously the "octane" series. Basically, more power/torque to a compatible tool. I've noticed my drill works better with the max batteries (doesn't cut out as quickly).

How does the 8ah ridgid battery compare to the octane battery?

I have few octane tools. They mention that with octane batteries they are more powerful. Does this new battery do the same kind of pairing?
