This RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium-ion HIGH PERFORMANCE 6.0 Ah battery starter kit provides up to 6X more runtime, 30% more power, and runs cooler compared to our standard lithium-ion batteries to provide long-lasting reliability and better performance. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the Ryobi One+ system I believe the One+ tools were the first cordless system to design all tools to use the same batteries and to sell bare tools, an astonishing 27 years ago. In that time Ryobi has managed to keep backwards compatibility with its new battery chemistries to its original One+ tools, which is an impressive engineering achievement. I was an earlier adopter buying my first tool and battery set about two years after they were introduced (yup, I still have my blue and yellow tools). I am also not a tool color snob, and do not understand how trades and diy’ers shame others for their tools perceived abilities simply based on their color. DeWalt and Black & Decker tools are the same company. Ryobi and Milwaukee are also both manufactured by their parent company, TechTronic Industries (TTI) - which makes a lot of familiar and quality brands. As such, the brands have much of the same DNA. In fact, the legacy Milwaukee tools established themselves as pro tools when they were all corded; but when TTI acquired the brand, TTI was the company which started infusing Milwaukee with cordless battery tech. The lithium innovations in Milwaukee tools came from TTI’s R&D on Ryobi tools. My belief is to use the tools that make sense for the jobs you are trying to do while also staying within your budget. For me, the One+ system is that perfect balance of quality and price, and the fact that my original tools have lasted 25years of daily use and are still going strong is testament to that! The latest iteration in the One+ line is the HP series which takes the Lithium packs to their next level while keeping the 18v compatibility. This is accomplished by increasing the wattage of the system, meaning if 18v is the constraint then the deliverable amperage is increased in these HP batteries. IMPORTANT NOTE: the HP batteries work in all the tools (where it behaves like the legacy lithium packs), but you must use it in an HP tool to unlock the extra wattage. This is because the tools wiring and motor have to be sized to handle and use the additional current. The battery in this starter kit is great. Pricey, yes, but still a great value for what it offers. The 6ah battery in this starter kit is light for its power density and it just keeps going and going. When used on one of the HP brushless tools the beast is unleashed providing almost unstoppable torque and zip. I’m primarily using the battery on the PBLAG01B angle grinder and the feel is very similar to my 120vac corded grinder. It also seems to last so much longer when I use it on my blue 5.5 Inch Circular Saw (P501). It does get a little unwieldy on drills/drivers when using the tools for a long period of time and fatigue starts setting in, but for 99% of my use, this battery is the perfect balance. I guess this means I’m going to keep supporting the company as I replace my aging lithium one+ packs with HP packs.

Purchased mine during a promo so got a free tool which cost as much as this kit alone: that's like buying the tool and getting this battery for free.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lithium beats Nicad The lithium Ryobi battery is a huge improvement to me over the Nicad battery I had. I've used it on a variety of tools, including my skill saw for quite a few cuts, and I've barely drained it so far. Idnofnhsf to charge my Nicad several times for what I've done. Love it.
