Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice door, but... So while the quality of the door seems good, there are some annoying things. And, just to get this out of the way, everything is plumb and this door was installed by a red seal journeyman carpenter who runs a crew of hundreds of carpenters on a dam construction site. Tolerances are tight, and the round head screws brush against the latch rail on the closing side. Don't know why they didn't use flat head screws. Secondly, the Andersen lock set purchased for this door, which is supposed to be specific to the 4000 and 3000 doors, is ridiculously tight to the latch rail. The lock set and handles must fit into pre-cut holes in the door. The edge of the handle actually comes into contact with the latch rail as it closes. Why it isn't 1/4 farther away from the latch rail is beyond me. Hopefully with heat in the summer and expansion of the metals, this does not become an issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy door, but some imperfections We have purchased 2 of these doors and we do like them. But I am only giving them 4 stars because on the second door we purchased, there was 2 spots where the factory missed the black paint. and also missed pre drilling one of the holes on the left side of the frame. As I said we have installed 2 of them so I do know that it is missing this on one side. For a top of the line series we were unhappy that we will have to use a touch up paint to a factory issue mistake. We have only had the first door for a month and just installed the second but they seem very sturdy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A handle that shifts the upper glass down broke "One-hand retractable insect screen designed for long-lasting smooth operation" That is not true, at least in my case. Purchased this door in fall 2021, the handle that shifts the upper glass down broke during the winter. No extra strong force was used, I guess the plastic is of low quality. I will contact them soon, will update here with their response.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I actually enjoyed installing this door!! The company boasts a "45 min install" and all I can say is they are spot on!! It is so easy to install because it's made so well. The door operated perfectly upon installation with zero adjustments....I'm in shock because that never happens to me!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Functional but lacking quality for the price I've had this door for about two years now and while it generally works as you would expect it has a few issues and is certainly not a top tier door. 1. There is no striker plate on the frame so the latch just wears the paint off 2. The handle was nice and tight when new, but has become very loose and floppy 3. The bottom of the bottom piece of glass cannot be accessed for cleaning 4. The rubber strips on the bottom have perished and broken off much more quickly than I would expect

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Follow up on my review "Nice door, but..." To follow up on my review "Nice door, but..." here is yet another design flaw. I've contacted Andersen –through their own website– about my concerns in the first review, and they never ever contacted me back. The second, and even more egregious design flaw is the holes in the bottom part of the door that allow rain to fill the entire empty cavity, and you can even see the water through the glass. There are plastic "rails" that the upper glass slides down to unroll the screen, and these rails extend to the bottom part of the door...and rather than being fused or molded into the bottom horizontal part, they go straight through a couple of holes...holes that let the rain in, and the entire bottom section fills with water. The only way to get it out is to use a shop vac!! And then seal the holes with silicone caulking. I shouldn't have to vacuum water out of a $750 door and then start filling design flaws with caulking.

What are the differences between the 3000 and 4000 series? Is it just the closer(s)? I live in an extremely windy area on the oceanfront and need a strong door.

Asked by: HarbourDog
Thank you for posting your question. There is no big difference between the Andersen 4000 and 3000 Series Storm Door. Both doors has 1.50 inch thick panel and has dual closer. The only difference is on how to interchange the glass to screen. You may visit our website www.andersenstormdoors.com for more door information. We recommend our Andersen 4000 Series Storm Door as this door model is our top of the line product. - Irene

how do you determine if you need a LH or a RH handing?

Asked by: Mike
Thank you for your interest. When looking at your entryway from the exterior of your home, a left handed storm door will have the handle set on the left side. A right handed storm door will have the handle on the right side.

Can you install a 3000\4000 series door into a 4 -9/16" frame of a new pre-hung door? The Homedepot rep said we could not match up the door side we wanted (LH Door and RH Storm door) in a 4 9/16" frame because the handle would hit the deadbolt?

Asked by: Jason
Thank you for your inquiry. Our storm doors cannot be installed into a frame of pre-hung door. Please check this link for information about the mounting requirements in order to install a storm door: https://www.stormdoors.com/measure/. - Noel
