Rated 5 out of 5 by from WakeWatchers initial impression I’ve been using these WakeWatchers for about one month on my 17’ Lund w/ 115 hp. My dock is exposed to west wind and gets slammed at times; in addition to moderate wake action from other boats. These do an excellent job of securing the boat and holding it away from the dock. The key is to really torque-down on the arm and shorten the rope. Initially, I wasn’t doing this and the extra length in the rope would’ve allowed the boat to contact my dock. Adding two spring lines in an “X” figure also really helps for heavy waves. I’ve used mooring whips before and find these slightly easier to use. My only negatives would be the high price and the poor quality instructions. They are easy to install, but didnt mention to shorten the ropes fully or add the spring lines. I fugued that out myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wake watchers x four I run a community dock with 10 stalls, we installed 4 sets of wake watchers on the end of floating dock section, it is very important that the dock is long enough to accommodate the boat to be moored, the wake watchers should be turned in a bit towards the cleets on the boat. As far as performance they work fantastic when the weather and rollers come in. I recommend wake watchers very highly and they are very easy to install you just have to tweak each installation according to the location of the cleets on the boat. As far as homedepot service was very good and price is the best anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality and value I bought a new boat but didn't want the expense or hassle of a boat lift to keep it from banging against the dock. I was considering conventional mooring whips until I saw the Wake Watchers on You Tube. I purchased onlne and they arrived at my door in a few days. Opening the box I was impressed by the sturdiness and quality. Assembly was essentially attaching a few bolts and securing the bases to the dock. One thing I wasn't aware of, you will need to buy bolts/nuts or lag bolts to attach the base to your dock, a minor expense/inconvenience. Assembly was about 10 minutes by myself and I was ready to secure my boat. We've experienced some heavy storms and waves since installing and it has handled it all well. Great product and under $400, a fraction of the cost of a boat lift. I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work great! Easy to install and works great. The ropes that come with it are quite thick and are difficult to feed through the cleats on our boat. But overall, the system does the job of keeping the boat off the dock.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wake watchers mooring system Easy install, does a satisfactory job at keeping our boat off the dock. But the manufacturer has to build in a proper safe release mechanism to control the release of the mooring arm. No one should get hurt when using this product. I suspect many do. I won’t allow anyone to touch the mooring arms but me. If you don’t stay clear you will get hurt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised!!! I was hesitant at first but i took a chance and to my surprise they actually do what they were advertised to do...they hold my boat about three feet off the dock where it just moves with the waves. I know what im talking about because i live on the trent river waterway which is loaded with Locks. the area where i live has the deepest water so we get all the boat traffic speeding by all day every day. without fail the WakeWatcher kept my boat out of harms way, I went from skeptic to Fan shortly after installing the system when I saw it work for the first time... i would not hesitate to give the Wake Watcher System my full endorsement and so will you after you install and use it for the first time. One thing to keep in mind is that it does not come with bolts to secure it to your dock so you will have to pick them up at your local hardware store, i used 5 inch lag bolts but you will need to decide what will work best for your unique set-up. All the best, Perry O'Keefe

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good solution for keeping your boat off the dock. Works perfectly. Mooring line supplied is very heavy and doesn't fit my cleats well, but otherwise, it is a perfect solution that looks better than conventional mooring whips, in my opinion.

What is the shock absorbing mechanism under the yellow sleeve?

Asked by: Bisland
That is a spring that allows the wakewatcher to flex when needed.
