I figured there had to be something special or unique about this camera to be at this price point and have such good reviews but in the end it was just peoples lack of knowledge or experience with what is available these days. For less than 33% of the price of this camera you could have crystal clear mpeg4 video from a 2-way voice camera that has pan and tilt along with SD storage and unlimited viewing from anywhere. I quickly returned this product after realizing cameras a fraction the price that I already owned did a better job. Only gave it a chance because I got a nest protect for $39 on clearance at home depot. Now that is a better price point.

Then I couldn’t get the camera to work properly as I was only streaming not paying for memory. Thinking that the camera was the issue and I repurchased 3 months ago. The camera kept stopped functioning at night which is a priority as my parent is 91 and needs care around the clock. Then I thought it was my internet service provider but last night Nest took their website down for over 4, hours. Nest website is the problem and happens frequently enough to feel punitive. High baby monitor works better costs less.

Almost too easy to set up and works incredibly well.Although only up for about 10 days so far it continues to monitor my home and provides an additional sense of security when ever someone or something approaches the room. Compliments my Nest thermostat as the app shows all the pertinent information you would need with a single glance on my phone of both the current temperature of my home and the room where the camera is placed NEST continues to provide exceptional everyday products to make our lives easier and better A great product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value that meets our needs I did a fair bit of research before deciding to try the Nest Indoor Camera and am very happy I did. After an easy setup, I knew I had the best camera available in the price range. Combined with the App, I only get necessary notifications. All video is sharp and detailed which is exactly what I was hoping for and needed. I utilize a number of cameras for security and always rely on the Nest products for information I need. Our family plans to purchase a third Indoor Camera for baby monitoring. The zoning will work great for baby movement and the microphone will pick up every sound and allow us to communicate back to the baby. Afterward, I have another security camera. Can't beat that!

Without subscription you can only see live action. Resolution is borderline and becomes poor when zooming in. overall - a handy monitor, but not worth it as a recording security camera.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Solid Camera But Some Improvements Needed This camera provides a clear image. Set up and operation via the Nest app is straight forward. Some things users need to consider. The Nest Aware monitoring costs a minimum of $5/month/device. And it continuously collects streaming video with 120Gb per month a typical amount of usage on your wifi internet account per device at medium quality. There is no option at present to store locally and upload only events. Without this service (provided free for a month), live viewing and still pictures from events are your only options. Audio communication is possible, but it is very rudimentary. With a requirement to toggle between sending and receiving. If set up inside to monitor outside conditions through a window, it works fine in daylight, but at night, the glass window reflects the infrared night vision and all you see is a reflection of the camera in the video. The app provided is acceptable but not very intuitive and takes some time to become familiar with. This product is not iOS HomeKit compatible, but it can be used with Apple devices (or Android) with the Nest app. No additional hub is required. Robustly constructed, this camera makes a good addition to a smart home.

I am not sure why nobody mentioned in the reviews, but this camera has quite a few drawbacks. The major one is huge latency. I really mean huge. I can walk slowly 20 ft hall and come back to start viewing how I am starting moving toward the end of the hall. If you are monitoring pet, it'll be too late to action. Audio has same huge delay and virtually useless because of that. Software is proprietary and you have to use web browser to monitor. You cannot use other software like BlueIris I would prefer to use. Subscription to the cloud storage costs fortune. Minor thing: it's a black camera with white USB cable. Why? Weird choice, in my opinion. The camera itself looks solid, but everything else nowadays with extremely bad software it is totally useless. You are not buying it for prettiness, but to actually use it. If you feel "safe" being away from the home with this camera, think again. Nothing safe about it. Did I mention this camera does not have internal storage? That means you have to upload to the internet, thus streaming constantly which most likely will require unlimited Internet (read: pricier subscription) For $200 I expected much more from this camera. I am obviously heavily disappointed and returned it back to the store. I respect Google as a company, but this product is a total fiasco.

The quality of video is amazing and the person alerts are in real time. I recommend Nest to everyone i talk too. Best part is Nest, makes it compatible with other products that i use to control the settings in my house. Anywhere in the world, i can check on my residence, talk to my pets and ensure the safety and security of my house using Nest. Thank you Nest!
