Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst sod ever If I could rate a 0 I would. I went to Home Depot today to buy some sod by the roll. I asked the lady who worked in the garden center when the truck had come in that morning to drop off the sod (I arrived at around 1030am). She said it had just come in. I purchased the sod and brought it home and put it in the ground within the hour. When I unrolled it, it was slick and slimy and definitely no where near being green. I watered it and thought it may perk up in a few hours and maybe it was too moist when it had originally been rolled. Nope, unfortunately not. I have included a photo with this review for reference. I had to roll it all back up and will be returning. We will be purchasing from another more professional nursery who allows you to pre-order by the roll and only charges $4.50/roll + tax, versus $6.99 + tax for the same size (2"x4").

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY IN THIS PRODUCT This is the first time for me that I purchase some thing more expensive and the quality far less than another product.Let me tell you the story. My husband spent days to take out the old sod in the front yard and back yard and then we thought that we should buy the sod from Home Depot to have better sod ( which was the real mistake ) and we purchased this sod and then took hours off from the work and spent time to installation carefully as we know it is perishable and we did carefully watered and mowed based on the instruction. And we needed more sods so then we purchased more but from a different farm and NOT from Home Depot and the price ONE THIRD CHEAPER than Home Depot sod and very surprisingly the result , the sod from the different farm has much more better quality!!! The sod which we purchased from Home Depot is very thin weak and looks more yellow. This is really unexpected and unaccepted and frustrating spending money 3 times compare buying from a farm and spending times to installation and taking care of the sod and the result is unbelievable poor. We wasted time and money and lost the trust to Home Depot and we will share every body we know and in communities and hope the upper management in Home Depot have some actions for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Healthy grass sod! We had a positive experience with the delivery of our sod. The delivery person called in advance to confirm our availability and suggested laying the sod within 24 hours of delivery. The sod was healthy, as advertised, and responded well to regular watering. The delivery person was also very accommodating, delivering the sod to our desired location. Overall, we are very satisfied with the experience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Way too much for too little Purchased a couple of rolls of sod to finish off an area I had previously bought rolls at a sod farm for, just needed two rolls to finish the job so I went to Home Depot because it was closer. Didn't mind paying twice as much since I was only getting two rolls. Went to put them down and the rolls are half the size of the ones I purchased from the sod farm. So not only do I need to get more, I paid four times as much ! NOT HAPPY.

Is there plastic mesh in the turf supplied to Vancouver island?

Asked by: Brian
I am not sure what you get in BC, in Ontario you get the skid of sod and that's it

Hello, Am preparing my soil and might install the SOD in end of July, will that be a good idea please? City is Brampton. Thank you

Asked by: Manny
Hello, yes that timing will work. The key is to prepare your soil well (rototill, remove debris, grade & rake thoroughly and if necessary, add a premium garden soil & fertilizer). Upon receiving your sod, it is critical to install it immediately. It is a perishable, living product. To install, lay the sod in a brickwork pattern, butt all joints together without overlapping, and go over the area with a roller to press the roots into the soil. Water so that the soil is wet to a depth of 1" (2.5 cm) beneath your sod, and water regularly/frequently for at least the first three weeks.

When is the season for installing sod, how late is too late? How long until the roots grow into the soil?

Asked by: Rheta58
Hi there! The sod season is all dependent on the weather. As long as there is enough warmth in the air to assist in the sod's growth, and enough watering is done, you can install sod up until late Autumn.
