Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Designed Blinds I have ever seen... These are the worst designed blinds I have ever seen, and I'm a Realtor, so I see a lot of blinds. 1) The bottom rail is as thick as the top rail, to block even more of the window than necessary. 2) The auto winding mechanism is contained in the bottom rail, so you can't modify it to be slim like every other blind in existence. 3) Due to the bottom rail, you are not able to remove slats 4) It's not faux wood at all. It was no faux wood texture. It's just plain slats, so it doesn't match the blinds in the rest of the home. I have a 26" tall window opening, and once brought up, the blind takes up 6.75" of that opening... And when the blind is all the way down, I have an extra 2 inches of slats I can't do anything with... I've never came across such a poor design, so I didn't even thing to check the box before having it cut and taking it home. $200 for two blinds that are useless and unreturnable (they are cut).... Do not make the same mistake as me. As for the manufacturer - please contact me, I would be happy to help you redesign this blind.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from First blind I have ever bought that can’t be shortened. Why did they change their previous faux wood blind design?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No cords which is good I cannot agree that it is a poor design. Honesty for me it is more annoying dealing with thin cords to open/close blinds.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great blinds crappy screws. If you getting these blinds purchase screws to replace the Philips screws that strip so easy, very difficult to work with, they're almost impossible to put in using a drill. Don't know why companies still use Philips screws for anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable faux wood blind Affordable faux wood blind, good quality (so far), easy to install and operate. We've bought two sets for the kitchen windows earlier this year and quite happy with it then decided to buy another sets for our living room last month, no disappointment again though we found them a little bit heavier to pull down than the sets we bought earlier. We intended to buy a couple of more sets for the windows in our bedroom however we couldn't find the shorter length we need (shorter than 40 inches in length), otherwise we will complete all the windows in our house with the same blind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love them Love them, the only reason I didn't give a 5 star, is because you can't shorten them

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bulky, ugly, no length adjustment. A huge step back from the old ones. These just look cheap - the bottom rail is ridiculously thick, and why on earth have they removed the ability to adjust the length? Really disappointed with this purchase. I should not have assumed they would simply be as good as their predecessors.

Is it possible to adjust the length?

Asked by: Cindy
I was really disappointed when I found out I couldn't shorten these blinds. They looked ridiculous on my 26inch tall basement windows. As I knew I couldn't take them back I decided to try and shorten them myself, rather than throwing them out. It turns out you can shorten them, and they look heaps better when you do. You have to shorten them from the top - and i'm pretty sure this will void any warranty. It's also a little fiddly, but it's not difficult. - First you want to extend the blind right out and figure out how many slats you'll be removing. - Now remove the blind from the window. - suspend the blind so you can fully open it, but have access to the top. I used two broom handles set between the backs of two dining chairs. Set the blinds to the fully open slat position - you want them completely horizontal. - remove the clear plastic clips from the very top slat. Make sure you don't break them - you still want them. - Using scissors, cut out as many slats as you want to remove. Make sure you remove them from the top, only. - You'll now have an open blind with a lot of sting at the top, and then all your slats continuing down to the bottom. - Cut out all of the thinner strings (the rungs of the ladder) but leave the very last one (closest to your first remaining slat) so you can use it as a guide. - Attach those clear clips you removed from the previously top slat to the newly top slat. Make sure they hold the ladder rung in place. - Look in the top, you will see three white barrels that the strings attach to. You do not need to adjust the ribbon - only the length of these strings. - using needle nose pilers, pull the strings out sideways from the slits in the barrel. Only do one barrel at a time. - You will see some little metal clips on the end of the strings. You can prise them open with a butter knife and some needle nose pliers. Remove them from both strings, but keep them! - raise the blinds while also pulling the threads upwards. Raise them until that ladder you left in is touching the top of the blind. - fold the threads over to the slot that they were removed from and gauge where you'll be putting that metal clips back on. - reattach the clips using your pliers. - cut the excess thread off - I left about 3/4 inch so that I had tome play if I needed to adjust them. - slot it back into the barrel and repeat on the other thread. - make sure both threads have even tension when the slats are in the fully open position! - now repeat this process with the other two barrels. - now you can finally cut out that last rung you left as a guide. It's not hard, but there is a risk of destroying the blinds if you're not careful. As well as leaving the guide rung in I also measured the distance between the original top slat and the top of the blind. I did this to double check the spacing once I'd finished. It was 1 1/8" for me. Hope this helps someone. It's definitely worth trying if you're going to throw them out. Mine look so much better now, and they do not look in any way like they've been tampered with - they still operate like new.

Do they fasten to the top of the window frame or on the sides?

Asked by: Batrbie
You can install these blinds inside or outside the window frame. If you install INSIDE the window frame, the installation brackets will be parallel to the window casement on both sides (the sides of the window frame). If you install OUTSIDE the window frame, the installation brackets will be above the window frame. Our installation manual provides a drawing of the window frame and how to install it properly. You can view this on the website on our products landing page.

If i want to cut the blinds by 2 inches at the shop, will it be cut 1 inch at each ends symmetrically ?

Asked by: Benny
I am not sure. We were going to cut it too but we just went a bit smaller and it worked perfectly. We also put it on the inside of the window frame. If we cut it not sure if we were able to return it so maybe try going smaller instead.

How do you shorten the blinds?

Asked by: Diane
No, the blind can not be shortened. They come in three drop options: 48 inches, 60 inches, and 72 inches.

By how much can I shorten the width of a 48” wide blind

Asked by: Lou H
The 48 inch wide blind can be cut down by 6 inches. So the cut down width range is 41.5 inch to 47.5 inch. For inside-mount, an additional 0.5 inch deduction is made for mounting hardware (we already account for this so you don't have to).

Is the overall width of this blind 28”? My window opening is exactly 28”

Asked by: Flea4me
If your window opening is exactly 28-inches, the 28-inch wide blind will fit perfectly. The actual width of the 28-inch Wide blind is 27.5-inches. We already account for 1/2-inch for the hardware.

Can this blind be cut to 16 inches and still be functional?

Asked by: Lee88
No, the 24-inch wide blind can only be cut down 6 inches (17.5 in - 23.5 in cut range). You can find the 16-inch wide blind online, or you can purchase the 18-inch wide blind in-store and have it cut to your spec.
