An excellent way to add a natural rustic charm and warmth to your project. JDIRVING Barn Boards are rough kiln dried eastern white pine, painted to enhance the natural characteristics of each board, to replicate natural aged and weathered wood.PRODUCT NOTE: Due to non- toxic tannins found naturally in all wood species, including Eastern White Pine - from which this product is manufactured, discolouration of the original pre-finished colour(s) may occur over time in a small percentage of boards. This discolouration should only add to the uniqueness of each board, while still maintaining the aesthetic and look of a naturally weathered rough barn board.

  1. Great for 100's of projects including: accent walls, wainscoting or ceilings.
  1. Mix widths for a timeless look
  1. Recommended for interior use only
  1. Can be used for exterior projects providing all 6 sides are sealed with a clear exterior waterborne satin finish varnish.
  1. Recommended that any wall or ceiling applications be affixed by using a bead of strong adhesive and also secured with screws into wall anchors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very inconsistent widths on the 4" boards The project (accent wall) turned out nice, but we had a heck of a time with gaps between rows until we figured out the problem. We bought 35 1x4x8 boards and the widths were all over the place, ranging from boards being 3 1/2 all the way to 4 1/4 inches wide. Once we figured this out (and having to pull off boards and start over in places), we were able to complete the project. Having to match widths for boards on each row was time consuming. I'm not sure if these varied widths are intentional for that "extra rustic" look, but it would have been good to have known this ahead of time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for interior projects if you have patience I picked up 10 of these boards (7 of the 1x4x8 and 3 of the 1x8x6) to build some hexagonal shelves. The boards look fantastic and saved me at least a full day on my project by not having to stain bare wood myself to achieve the same look. My only complaint is you really need to take your time picking boards if you're planning to use them to build something with... It took about 30 minutes of sorting through boards to find the 10 boards I needed that were straight enough to use, so thats where the patience came in. Most were severely bowed, twisted or warped and could not have been used for building shelves. In fact I could not even find a single 1x8x8 that was suitable and had to settle for 3x 1x8x6 boards instead of 2x 1x8x8.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Better barn board Well, if you think is what you want, go for it. It looked pretty horrible to me, and I walked away immediately. If you're in the Kitchener area, you can source actual barn board, of many colours and sizes and styles, requiring some, or no, finishing, from Timeless Materials Company. They salvage wood just like this, from actual barns and all sorts of other building sites, for any application, and make it available at pretty decent prices. Look for "reclaimed wood" or "buy old lumber" in your own neighbourhood...it might be better than what is offered by homedepot. Yes, expect some variation in sizing, and knotholes, and fracturing. But apparently the manufactured barn board also has that problem! How about that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weathered Barn board is amazing, easy to work with We looked around in community for local barn board and decided that the kiln dried, bug free version of barn board nest suited our needs best. The look and style Home Depot has is perfect gor the look we were trying to achieve.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Watch for warped boards Overall these worked quite well. Check each board is straight before buying. We found a good number were warped. Colour may vary but that could be a good thing for some projects.

What type/brand of adhesive would you use to install these on a wall?

Asked by: BayMan
You can nail them to the studs or use construction adhesive caulk.

What type of adhesive would you use to attach these to a wall?  I would more than likely use some brad nails as well for extra piece of mind

Asked by: BayMan
BayMan Thank you for your response. We recommend Liquid Nails or a PL Premium Adhesive. We only recommend using an adhesive when you cannot find studs to attach the barn board to the wall. Using an adhesive is a permanent application and should you ever decide you want a change you will either have to put a new sheet of drywall over the barn board or if you tear out the barn board you will have to install new drywall. We wish you great success with your project.

It says that these boards are pressure treated. Would they be safe to use on an interior accent wall if that is the case???

Asked by: Rose
They are not pressure treated...the website is wrong.
