Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good Quality and Great High Heat Output I've used these for many years now and and I've been burning pellets as primary home heating for more than 18 years and tried all kinds of different brand or pellets, and although some bags will have more dust from banging along in the delivery truck, most are very low dust and very hard and dry if they stored them well. I have had to return some for exchange due to damage but rarely. They produce great heat and are on par with other high quality pellets. Some customers may have had bad experiences with batches(probably shipping damage), but overall these are very good and my top choice of available pellets now. I highly recommend these.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth it ! I purchased these pellets last month. These are the worst I have ever tried. I have been using pellets for over ten years to warm my house as a second heat source. I burn about 80 to 100 bags a year. These do not burn clean, the fire pot accumulâtes a lot of petrified ash and blocked the burn pot holes and files the the burn pot and overflows into the ash tray. Lots of unburnt pellets that eventually catch on fire in the ashtray. Lots of saw dust and pellets seem to be in smaller pieces. There gore I must stop my pellet stove every 4hrs to clean the burn pot. Probably better as cat litter as they burn like s@!t. Buyer beware !

Rated 1 out of 5 by from High Proportion of Pellet Crumbs in Opaque Bags Pellets sold in opaque bags have something to hide. 12 bags sampled had 240 to 490 pellets/100 g, with an average of 370±23%. When crumbs were removed there were 260±5% pellets/100 g. In a test stove, the crumbs reduced air flow through the pellets, and combustion rates by -30%. Opaque bags also hid pellet flower caused by water damage caused by improper transportation and storage of bags. Manufacturers that are proud of their pellets sell them in clear bags.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cat litter much better than clumping cat litter, and way less expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Cat Litter These wood pellets work perfectly as cat litter. Defiinitely on par with the wood pellets sold at PetSmart for 4X the price. My furry friends are content with it. Highly recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too Much Ash Used La Crete last year 2020 , real crap , does not produce much heat , but builds a pile of ash , to the point that it shuts my stove down after only 24 hr of burn time .(Too much bark and waste product used) I had sent La Crete an E mail , which they would not acknowledge . Sad that this seems the only brand available in this part of Manitoba .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent premium softwood pellets I bought 30 bags of pellets 2 weeks ago. They are of good quality. Lots of heat and very little ash. I run my stove continuously for over two weeks at a time and after cleaning dump 4 to 5 pounds of ash. I use these as my primary source of heat in my house as electricity, wood and propane are the only sources available. 2.5 time cheaper to heat than electricity or propane. People should look at the bags they are buying. Poor quality is usually due to abuse at the retail level. They should be stored under cover.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seems on bags are weak and tear open when lifted. Opened the 2nd bag. No better than the first one. Half a bag of saw dust. I could make better pellets with my chain saw.

What type of wood are these ? Are they kiln dried and suitable to use as cat litter ?

Asked by: JustinFranse
The pellets are a mixture of Spruce, Pine and Fir, but primarily Spruce. We believe this product to be safe and pet friendly, although we do suggest if you have additional concerns to please speak to your veterinarian. Our wood pellets are manufactured from a combination of raw and kiln dried residual wood fibers, predominately Spruce wood fibers. Using an extreme high heat process after grinding the dried raw material, the product is extruded through a die system to form the wood pellets. This process uses zero additives in this process, only heat and pressure. The absorption rate is 6:1 making it great for pet bedding. We have many satisfied pet owners who use our Wood pellets for cats, horses and rabbits.

what kind of wood? From what tree? Pine? something else? thanks

I only use it for cat litter so soft wood with no chemicals added is all that is required.

Pine is toxic to cats. As well as cedar. Is there any of these types of wood in these pellets?

Asked by: CatDad67
Thank you for your question on our product. There is no Cedar in our pellets. Spruce and balsam primarily, but there will be some Pine in the pellets as well.
