Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with purchase I have a good sized property with lots of fence lines, and had previously used a gas trimmer which was heavy and could be difficult to start. This trimmer is very easy to use, lightweight, easy on the arms, the batteries are easy to swap out, and most importantly it is quite powerful and does a great job. The edging feature works very well too, which is great for keeping the 90ft walkway under control. The batteries last a little over half an hour under constant use. The instructions aren't very specific about the charger, but as an FYI it should be unplugged when not in use.

So batteries on own worth almost cost of trimmer. Trimmer is light weight ,plug in battery and go. Shoulder straps adjustable, trimmer head can swivel to do vertical edge trimming. String is not as thick as gas power Stringer but more than adequate for trimming grass. Battery has excellent power and run time. Recommend

Quite light compared to the old gas trimmer that I had that wouldn't start well and was always requiring string readjustment. This one self feeds and starts and stops with the press of a button. Battery lasts long enough for me to get around my entire yard, just! Charging time is quite short. Less than an hour. I love it!!

Property is 50x150 and there is still battery left over. Charge time is around 30 minutes. Paid 250 but it came with a second battery and a free leaf blower. I used to have the black and decker equivalent but the battery couldn’t last for my yard and took 8 hours to charge.

How long will the trimmer work with the battery...15-18mins?

Wth a 4 amp battery I went a good 45 min in some heavy cutting before changing the battery pack.  The line is thin so if you are doing a lot of trimming against concrete it goes fast but if against trees it doesn’t damage the bark much  which is a plus

Thank you for your question. Makita model DUR181Z line trimmer operates at a single speed of 7800 RPM. It is not variable speed. Makita offers a variety of cordless line trimmers in 18V, 36V (18Vx2) and 40V options.
