Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect For Finishing Basement Project to finish my basement... Layed down Platon foundation membrane on the basement cement floor and then put the 1.5" celfort foam board on top of it and also on the foundation walls. Used PL300 to secure them to the wall and floor... and then tuck-taped each seam. This size foam board is perfect if you have existing 2x4's already secured down on the floor that you cannot remove.. It will allow you to to TapCon your sub-floor directly on top of the sub floor and existing 2x4's so that there is a seamless sub-floor right around the enitre basement area.. Then frame ontop of the sub floor to allow a complete water proof barrier..

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed buying used buildingMaterials online Most of the sheets I purchased (24 - should have been a wrapped bundle) (it was when COVID started and you could only get curbside pickup and couldn't go into the store) were damaged and looks like they had been returned from another job site. It made my job difficult for the installation that needed the tongue and grove feature. The staff that handed them to me just shrugged their shoulders.I sent them back in with about the 7 worst ones that had large chunks missing in the boards. If I had been able to see them before purchasing, I would have gone elsewhere. The inventory showed more than enough stock. I wasn't happy and I have at least three sheets I couldn't use on this particular job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough Stuff I buried 15 x 8 footers in 2 feet of backfill, all around the house when I installed a weeping tile pipe system. The C300 will deflect rain water away from the foundation wall, plus provide insulation to the foundation wall in winter. None of the pieces cracked or split during installation. Glad I went with the 2 inch thickness for strength and added R valve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Codebord for nonconstruction uses At my company, we use this material for packing high value parts for shipment, and making mockups of 3D composite forms. With a utility knife and a straight edge, you can do a lot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aboveground Pool Insulation Pleased with the product; we used it for the floor under the liner of the aboveground pool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great R-value to space ratio R5 per inch. You should definitely check the in-store price. My local HD was price-matching the blue foamboard from a nearby big-box competitor. My only surprise was to open up a 12 pack and find live flies & ladybugs crawling around, given that it's mid-November here in Ontario. It would be nice if these were sealed better and/or not stored outside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product Quality price Works As promised - easy to cut with a long bladed knife. Would be nice if they would discount the price once in a while as it’s a Cadillac price for a Chevy product. Can be expensive if you’re cladding a whole house or whole subfloor.

I have a raised ranch home...well above ground water level. Could I place this one inch styrofoam under 5/8 " tongue and groove plywood as a strong base for 4" wide planks of laminate flooring in my basement. Is this strong enough to roll heavy TVs over

Asked by: Michael
Hello Michael, There are several ways to correctly install Foamular over a residential concrete floor. ** First it is important to make sure the floor is completely dry, and free any debris, also free from any major cracks or uneven sections.  Option 1:  1. Start by covering the floor with a 4 to 6 mil poly as a vapor barrier (If there is not one previously installed under the slab). 2. Lay Foamular and make sure joints are tightly butted 3. Apply either ¾” tongue and grove or 2 layers of 7/16” osb with off-set seams a. Foamular is not structural and will not prevent punctures from furniture legs/feet, so a subfloor such as OSB is required. b. This is to prevent a large amount of weight hitting a seam in the subfloor and adding higher than expected weight through to the Foamular potentially compressing the foam at that seam. 4. Install the final flooring Option 2: 1. Start by covering the floor with a 4 to 6 mil poly as a vapor barrier (If there is not one previously installed under the slab). 2. Lay a 2x4 (flat) placing a 1 1/2 thick Foamular 150 or 250 down next to it and continue to lay another 2x4(flat) on the opposite side. 3. Place a Minimum 3/4" plywood over sleepers and foam, attaching it to the sleepers. a. 4. Install the final flooring    CodeBord has a compressive strength of 20 psi . Thank you for your inquiry!

What thickness of this rigid insulation is required in order for it to also be considered a vapor barrier?

Asked by: Dean
Not a professional but I’ve heard 2” in order to get proper vapor barrier in northern Ontario.

Does this package include two boards, or one board? The photo appears to show two separate boards, but the description doesn't explain. Are you getting one 4x8 foot board, or two 4x8 foot boards for $56?

Asked by: David
The boards are set with an offset to allow them to inter connect with each other to reduce leakage between boards The space or step you see is that offset almost like an overlap on each side of the board

Yes

What is the best caulking to use in order to seal the gaps left when joining sheets together I am insulating a cold room and would like to create an air tight seal. The corners and joints between sheets will allow air to get behind unless sealed.

Asked by: Allan
Hello Allan, Our recommendation is to use Joint SealR joint sealing tape to provide an air tight seal. If using caulk use a premium acrylic caulk that does not harden when cured (remains pliable). Thank you for your inquiry!

Can I use it for a above ground pool as underlying?

Asked by: Klaus
Although FOAMULAR CodeBord Extruded Polystyrene Rigid Insulation has high compression strength for your intended use, the base on which you place the material will need to be level in order to prevent the foam board from breaking (it's rigid and will crack if the substrate on which it's applied isn't level and strong (as is often the case with soil). So if the base is firm and level, I would say yes, that will work.
