Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid this defective product I bought this August 2022, used it once. left it in my garage over the winter, tried to use it again in May 2023. It is dead, won't turn on, tried 2 different fully charged batteries. I called Home depot, told them my situation. They told me to bring it in, I brought it to the store and they said they can't return it. Why tell me to come into the store if there is nothing they can do for me? Never making a major purchase from Home Depot again. Very disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Light Trimmer I am a woman who was looking for a light weight cordless trimmer. I am very pleased with this one. It is not too heavy, but powerful enough to trim my box woods and assorted other bushes. The rotating blade is a great feature as is the Hedge Sweep debris remover that actually works. I trimmed a total of 6 large, 4 medium and 8 small shrubs on 1 battery charge with 1/4 of the battery charge left. I would definitely recommend this trimmer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lengthy and Excessive Repair wait time I bought this hedge trimmer in 2022 for light duty trimming of my hedge three times a year. It worked great. In 2023 the unit completely seized. I took it to an authorized service dealer for warranty repair. It has now been over 5 months and it still has not been repaired. I contacted Ryobi and they emailed me that they are investigating the situation. I am still waiting for it to be repaired.

The 2 foot blade really makes a big difference on time and effort and the trimmer is well balanced with the battery in. Also, the rotating handle is super handy in eliminating the need to twist and turn to get the right angle. Even the sweeper works as described. Highly recommend this product!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Way too heavy with the 40V battery attached I didn’t have a chance to try this trimmer when I first bought it last summer. Today I used it to trim some of the hedges in my yard for the first time. The trimmer plus the 40V battery weighs around 17 to 18 lbs. After about 20 minutes trimming the hedges I was exhausted. However, the battery held up pretty good though. It only used one quarter of its power.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 24-Inch 40V Lithium-Ion Cordless Hedge Trimmer This is a well made robust piece of equipment, but is quite heavy to use, and puts a significant amount of strain and weight on forearms, wrists and shoulders. The battery is big and heavy too, does not take long to charge, maintains power for a long time. Good scabbard for blade, does the job well as long as you are strong enough to hold it for a long time.

It was the same price for me to buy this tool with battery or just purchase a replacement battery. I'm glad I chose to buy this tool.

Seems durable and well built design. It works “like a warm knife through butter”. Well worth it and the battery swap is easy. You will never go back to a cord trimmer!

can I use my Ryobi li-ion battery from my Ryobi blower on this trimmer?

From reading the other questions I understand you can’t buy replacement blades.  How do I sharpen them or do you have to send them away to be done?

The specs say the trimmer weighs 13'8 lbs, yet answers to two questions about weight say 2 lbs and 4 lbs. How much does the trimmer (with battery) weigh? Thank you.

The weight of the Hedge Trimmer with the battery is roughly 8.5 lbs, and the Trimmer by itself is just over 6 lbs. What is the diameter of the motors shaft? My Black & Decker 40v, the shaft sheared off at the motor, rendering it useless, after 3 years of use. The shaft on the B&D is 2mm. Crazy really.

The shaft is 2.4 cm on the cutting bar. Go to Home Depot and measure it. The  ryobi hedge cutter is fantastic. Hardly use the power saw now.
