I require a dry pack mortar mix for a 3" thickness slope. This product description says: "Can be applied in a thickness of 1/2 an inch (13 mm) to 2 inches (5 cm)". So does that mean it's intended for up to 2 inch thickness maximum ?

You can apply it to a 3" thickness slope but you need to add more cement to make the mix stronger. You can make an estimate. For example: for every 1 part part of sand mix, add 10% to 20% more cement. The cement on this bag os sand mix is not strong enough. Adding the receommended percent of cement will help. It's up to you if you want to add more cement on the sand mix. I hope this helps.

We have been advised that Sakrete sand mix with Xypex would be better than King Top'n Bond, for repairing a worn chimney crown.

Would we have to use a conrete form as I don't think the sand mix would stick to the verticle edge surfaces? The new surface apparently must be vapour permiable so moisture can escape from but not enter the crown.

yes Sakrete sand mix with Xypex would be better. Mix the sand mix drier for the vertical repair. clean the area and pre dampen before starting.

Can I use it to do repair job? one of my stone slaps on the porch fell off after winter.

Yes, this is what you use for shower bases. Just mix enough water to be able to make a ball, spread it out then use your level to check the slope

It is designed for new concrete construction projects, concrete overlays and repairs where a thickness of 2 inches (5 cm) or less is required. Can be finished smooth by trowel or textured using a broom or brush. Can be opened to foot traffic in 24 hours. Meets or exceeds strength requirements ASTM C 387 strength requirements. FEATURES & BENEFITS • General purpose applications • Ready-to-use; just add water USES Ideal for thin applications from 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) to 2 inches (5 cm) in thickness.
