Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality wood and workmanship I bought these with curbside pickup and opened the package at home. They are not cedar and would be prone to moisture damage in outdoor window/door applications (type of wood is not on the labeling). Much worse is that they are not really shims, which need to be wedges that get installed in pairs. The quality control is so bad on this product that most pieces were simply small rectangular slabs. I threw most of them out. There are other stores that sell superior versions of this at similar prices.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality Can hardly call them shims. Half the pack the pieces were 3/16" end to end. Even the ones the were wedge shaped was still 1/8" thick on the thin end. A proper shim should be 3/8" thick and taper down to 1/32".

Rated 1 out of 5 by from bad its true. the quality is beyond horrible. they are thinner than my old ones and easily break

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality If you are looking for traditional cedar shims these are not for you. They are less tapered than a normal shim shingle and I don’t believe are cedar

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shim time! What a fantastic shim! They smell good, are unevenly shaped for all your size needs, really everything one would want with a shim

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size everytime I was Leary about buying them but it was during a pandemic and the employee had no clue what cedar shake was so after an hour on hold I just bought them turns out that the uniform shape inconsistent size makes life a lot easier I will not go back to snapping my own

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Woody shim so great These shims gave me a woody . Well worth the money

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless Waste of money. These shims are tiny. As soon as you put a nail or screw through them they split.

I have the same question as Tj15: how many per pack? I need about 90 to use as cedar shingles on a little library I'm rebuilding. During Covid I have to order online and have no way to check pack contents. Thanks!

Asked by: Woodwrkr
I estimate there are approximately 60 shims per package. I will say they are of very good quality: no knots or flaws in any of them.

Would these work for spacing from bowed studs while hanging drywall .And if not any other ideas to fill some of the gap when holding drywall up. Finally got to this stage and I don't want the drywall to look humpy. Thank you in advance for all advice

According to your previous answer, it looks to me that this product is a wedge and not a shim. Am I wrong?

What are the actual Dimensions of one shim? The "Dimensions" appear to cover the whole package.

Asked by: johnbbq
Hi John, For one shim the dimensions are 15" long 1 & 1/4" wide and 3/8ths" thick at the thick end.
