Rated 5 de 5 de par Quality Post Cap I've only had these a couple weeks, so I cannot comment on their longevity. But my past experience with Home Depot solar lights vis-à-vis others has been excellent, so I didn't hesitate despite the price. Very well made, all aluminum construction, and they cast enough light on a 20 foot handicap ramp leading to my deck that no porch light is required at night.

The bases are a good quality of aluminum and the working parts are of a very strong plastic. The solar panel is very well made and seems quite larger than other posts lights. They fit my 4x4 posts perfectly with no cutting or other adjustments. We placed them in sun for about a day and when the evening came, we were surprised as to how bright they were. No flicher, just clean light. Overall, a very well made product. Recommended.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Great look These look great along my deck. The light is bright and eye catching. I had two problems that prevent me from giving them a full five star rating. One, I had to take the nine post caps I bought to my local Hone Depot because try as I might I could not twist the caps off to turn the switch on. Even my hubby couldn't budge them, and we tried them all. The clerk couldn't do it either and called over one of the guys. He took it, twisted it off like it was nothing. I finally had him do all nine. I watched him but he wasn't doing anything different. I asked what his secret was......he said he used to be an arm wrestler and had strong hands, haha! Not joking. Anyway, I told him I was coming back when I need to change the batteries in the future, lol! Second, I had one cap whose screw hole did not line up with the slot in the adapter piece. So we just didn't screw it to the post. I'll probably use an adhesive so it doesn't blow off in a gale. All in all I really like these post lights and despite my lack of arm wrestling experience would buy more if I need them.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Nice, but don't last long I have bought 12 of these to give some illumination around my pool. They were installed fairly easily on my 4x4 posts and worked as expected for about a year. Now, after only about a year and a half, 5 out of the 12 doesn't operate, due to the low quality wiring and on/off switch going bad. Fortunately, I have purchased an extended 2 year replacement plan with them, so these will go back for replacement (or possible upgrade) to Home Depot. My recommendation, do not buy. They aren't going last. Or if you do, definitely buy the service/replacement warranty.

Top and base is solid metal (seems like a casting - not a stamping).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought these lights as an addition to our deck to provide enough light for ambiance and to guide visitors around. I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. The quality of the metal is great. We easily opened the packages and assembled (needed to use the include adapter piece as my poles were shy of 4” squares). But the adapter worked perfect. In fact, so easy to do, my 12 year old actually put on most post caps. Very happy we got these! The lighting is perfect too- not too “blue” of a white light.

How does the base get attached to the post and how does the light attach to the base? Can't find installation instructions

The light is in two pieces, the top part has the light and you must turn the light on when you receive the delivered items. You then reattach the top part to the base and the base just sits on top of the post. There are two predrilled holes and screws included in the light kit that you can attach the light to the pole.

Confusing how to install these. Base can be installed from both sides so not sure which is up or which is down. The screws don't work with it, too short so they fall off the post down in yard if you bump into it. Need a pic of which side to down!

If you look at the base, the more flared part with the U-shaped notch goes up. I used longer screws and spray painted them bronze, to be sure they were long enough to go into my posts. Hope that helps!
