Rated 5 de 5 de par Does what it says on the tin. Does what it says on the tin. It's very thick so you'll need more than you think, especially with 3 coats over all your seams. I needed two buckets to get through a single tub to shower conversion. When applying the fabric tape, opt to do as small a section as possible, or you'll find you'll get too far ahead of yourself trying to get the tape sitting right and catching up to your initial coat. Definitely use gloves, and whatever scissors you plan to use to cut the tape will get covered in the stuff, unless you cut it all before hand. Buy cheap paint brushes and just throw them out when you are done a coat. Don't try to clean and reuse them.

Rated 5 de 5 de par redgard liquid membrane waterproofing - install properly! redgard liquid membrane waterproofing... READ THE MANUFACTURE INSTALL PROCESS!! on wet areas (showers etc) the first coat should be a watered down 3 parts water to 1 part redgard, installed and allowed to dry, then add THIN coats, not thick wet coats, do so in multiple recoats AFTER each coat has dried completely. the range is 20mils to max 40mils thick (that is NOT milliliters... it is MILS). This stuff sticks to most anything and creates a flexible seamless membrane that is waterproof if installed as per directions. even tested it on a cardboard box interior... 4 coats; then 2 inches of water... after 4 days no leakage! It works when done properly!!

Rated 4 de 5 de par Redgard Pink mayo is correct. I wet the durock with water and did the primer by cutting the Redgard with a minimal amount of water. It is just too thin if you put 2 cups of water to 6 cups of Redgard. Primer coat dried in no time. Tape off your area, you will drip. I used a paint brush and not a roller. I did 3 coats. I didn't check the thickness, it is what it is. I had sheetrock under the old tile and it lasted 40 years with no issues, the issues kicked in around 45 years. So Durock with Redgard is overkill. Plastic sheets behind the durock are a standard , that cost vs. Redgard kicks the value of the product down. Product is super easy to clean.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Easy to Apply Water Isolation Barrier Not much simpler than this to apply a water barrier for showers. Oh sure the fabric membranes are nice but are you really sure you have 100% adhesion? With Red Guard there is no question if you have a good attachment of the water barrier because it's painted on directly to the concrete board. I seal the seams with fiberglass tape and Red Guard for a perfect water barrier. For now I've only used it for bathroom tile jobs but will be trying it out on a tiled floor job next week. Want to have an isolation layer similar to what tile under layment membrane would do but for less time and money. Oh yeah, got to love the bubble gum pink when you first apply it but the results speak for themselves.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Smelly but easy to apply Product was extremely easy to apply. I applied it to 3/4" Concrete Board . Applied with a roller from top to bottom. let it dry (turns a slight reddish pink) and applied the second coat from left to right. When dried It turns red. After it dried I inspected the surfaces for air bubbles or gaps where it didn't cover completely and went over those areas again.... After That it was just Thinset and tile until done. The only downside to this product was the smell it puts off.. Make sure the room is well ventilated. After about 24 hours the smell is gone.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Liquid Membrane for Shower installation Super DIY project, refurb the master bath, tear out tub, create walk in shower. After all the demo was done installed the new insulation and added the backer board. Lots of openings between sections of the concrete backerboard, stuff does not cut real well, thus the need for the liquid membrane. Red Guard lived up to its billing. Easy to appy, dried quickly and created airtight and liquid tight seals between the seams and cracks. Shower completed and operational now, Redguard a large part of the success. Looking for other uses to finish up the tub only used about half of it. A bit pricey, until you use it, then realize it is worth twice the price.

It is the simplest and best way to make a shower stall and pan waterproof. It is a great product to lay tile on to, all of your surfaces are flat and all your corners are square. I have not seen any sign of seepage, leakage, or water damage outside my shower install which was completed five years ago. I had a shower valve go bad and had to replace the valve, I cut open the wall behind the shower and found no signs of a RedGard failure. I will continue to use this product in future builds and I will recommend this product to all my friends.

Rated 5 de 5 de par RedGard The product is equal to a bed liner but twice as easy to install. This product was thin making rolling on a snap, it goes on pink then turns red as it dries. I put in 2 all new bathrooms in my remodel of my home, I picked up the 3.5 gal bucket and it was enough to cover the floors, around the tubs and a walk in shower before putting up, marble tile. It will, waterproof your baths wet areas and it only takes two coats.. Would never recommend putting in a bath with out putting this product down first. I did use rubber gloves safety glasses and had 2 fan in the work area when I used this product.

Coverage per gallon

Posée par: Mark
I'm getting about 150 square feet per gallon, with double coats in a few areas, such as visible cracks. For a full double coat, I'd cut that in half and say 75 square feet. I typically use a small hand roller on a pole.

Can I apply this directly over linoleum, then lay tile over top?

Can I apply this directly over linoleum, then lay tile over top?
Posée par: codez
I don't like laying tiles over linoleum in general, especially older linoleum. Its glue tends to dry up after a while and it'll pop up, wasting your RedGuard and tile. If you can remove any linoleum, I would do that first. You're taking a chance by installing tile over it. If you must install something over linoleum, I would do a flooring floor such as laminates or the nice vinyl planks at HD, which install like laminate floorings and will last you a long time Good luck!

what do i use to stick slate to floor with red gard on it
Posée par: david
Use a thin-set such as Custom Building Products Natural Stone and Large Tile premium morter. Trowel it on top of your redguard. Be careful not to gauge the redguard with your trowel. Then place your Slate tiles.

Redguard over Greenboard?

I've got my tub walls up 5' with cement board and plan to seal with redguard once I connect the seams. Above the cement board is mold resistant drywall. Would it be appropriate to coat the drywall surrounding the tub and tile area with redguard as well? Would paint stick well to it?
Posée par: Tim
We would not recommend applying RedGard Waterproofing and Crack Prevention Membrane over drywall prior to paint. For further assistance please contact our technical services department at 1 800 282 8786 option 2.

Can redgard be applied over formica countertops?

I have Formica counter tops in my kitchen and I want to tile them.I know that they have to be roughed up to apply redgard or any underlayment but will it provide the moisture barrier needed?
Posée par: Jerry
No. Over formica countertops roughen up the surface and used a polymer modified mortar such as FlexBond Bonding Mortar. If you need further assistance please contact our installation division at 800.272.8786

I used this on my shower stall, there was one area where the two sheets of cement board have a gap, i didn't think it was big enough to tape and fill with thin set...now I'm re-thinking that....can I tape and apply flexbond over RedGard??
Posée par: TJ
The RedGard Waterproofing and Crack Prevention Membrane, when incorporated into a shower stall, should be applied after the backer board is installed per the backer board manufacturers installation instructions; Typical instructions require the seams to be taped and filled with a polymer-modified mortar. For further assistance please contact our installation division at 800.272.8786 option 2
