Rated 2 de 5 de par Cannot have peace of mind with this Bad design. The floater that checks water level is too small and light, so even a tiny dust can block its operation. Every few weeks, I find it keep running - some tiny dust at the end of the rod blocks the floater going all the way down, making it keep running. VERY annoying. It's only been a month and half, and it already occured 4 times. At this rate, I don't think this can last more than few months. I think I will have to return this and get something else. IMO, unless your water basin is totally clean and free of any dust, I don't recommend this.

The short distance on the float travel causes it to operate more frequently than a taller non-submersible. As well, this pumps actuator is somewhat loud clicking on and off. So more frequent operation, and somewhat loud operation scores it as good, rather than excellent.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Frustrated & Disappointed I bought and installed this sump pump in October 2016. It worked fine for 2 and a half years and then the float switch died. While this was inconvenient, it was not the end of the world, and I figured all I needed to do was get a new float switch. The float switch on this model has a "direct-in" connection, which under normal circumstances would be an appealing feature, except that HOME DEPOT DOES NOT SELL THE REPLACEMENT PART IN CANADA. In addition, a typical "piggy-back" float switch will not function as a replacement. I contacted the manufacturer (based in the USA) and they said they weren't sure why the replacement switch wasn't sold in Canada. They also warned against buying the replacement from the big online retailers, saying that it would be best if I replaced the whole pump. A representative at the store where I made the purchase was unaware there was a difference in replacement float switch types, and could not comment on why they didn't sell the correct one - frustrating, but fair enough. Phone-based customer service heard me out and said they would look into it and get back to me. When I called to follow up 2 weeks later, there was no record of my question being logged or assigned a ticket number, so I was forced to start again. Phone-based customer service (part 2) offered me an apology and a fifty dollar gift card, but no explanation as to why Home Depot doesn't sell the replacement part in Canada. I despise how wasteful this feels - the original pump would work fine if I could only replace the switch. I remain very confused as to why Home Depot doesn't sell the replacement part, and now feel obliged to recommend that other people don't buy this product (and other similar Everbilt sumps) because the failure of what is a relatively inexpensive yet theoretically easily replaceable electronic part renders the entire pump useless.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Work good for almost a year, then switch failed Purchased in May 2017,worked great for a year, then in April 2018 the float switch failed so that pump will only run if the float is held at the top. This makes it bump on for a fraction of second, and leave most of the water in the sump. Very annoying at night. The pump should come on and stay on until the float drops to the shutoff position.

Bought this to replace the 1/4 HP pump in my four year old laundry tray system, as the original pump was failing. Turned out to be the exact dimensions as the old pump, so I did not have to purchase the entire system. This one is a bit more powerful, takes only seconds to empty the laundry tray container. Only complaint is that it does not come with the threaded discharge pipe, but the one on the old pump was a perfect match, including the threads and the overall height, so there was no need to buy a replacement pipe, I simply used the old pipe to complete the replacement. Would have required a separate purchase of a matching threaded pipe if I was using this pump for a different purpose. Still, a good pump at a reasonable price, I would recommend this product.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Not made to last save your money. Replaced a 30+ year old Gould pedestal pump with this unit. Told by HD employees that no one uses pedestal pumps anymore only low end builders. The ELECTRONIC switch on this pump failed after a year. The pump would not shut off and had to unplug the pump to get the electronic switch to reset. This happened two times both in the very early am hours. We could hear the basement pump running up in the second floor bedrooms. HD sells replacement switches for these @ $41.00 so there must be a problem with them. The pump could have been running continuously for hours so I don't trust that the motor hadn't overheated too. Replacing the switch would only be throwing good money after bad. Replacing with a unit with different type of switch and longer warranty. Current products pumps , dehumidifiers etc are not made to last.

I'm glad that I opened the box in the Home Depot parking lot because I had to go back in and purchase a PVC adapter (threads to glue) to connect to my discharge pipe. Less than a buck, but I didn't want to make another trip to the store. Installation was easy and the pump ran for almost 1/2 hour to lower the water level to the point where the pump cycled on and off. That's over 800 gallons. Now it runs for four seconds when it cycles. I didn't give it 5 stars because it has only a one year warranty.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great pump, easy installation. I'm a professional plumber. One of my customers purchased this pump and had me install it. I'm usually a little skeptical when it comes to big box plumbing products, but was impressed by this little pump. It works great and was an easy install.

Can this pump be used in an outside location?

Posée par: DecaturBill
Bill, I think your question has a common-sense answer. Sump pumps are designed to be housed in a pit, hence the term, "sump pit." That's why you install a sump catch basin to collect the run-off and direct it to the pump. All that works fine as long as the pump is working. Since we're dealing with water here, if the pit and basin are outside and installed at or above the frost line, the pump and the residual run-off in the basin and the discharge pipe are all in danger of freezing up in cold weather (like now). So, yeah in non-freezing weather there's no reason why this pump shouldn't operate just fine, but in cold weather the whole mess could freeze up and nothing would work. I had a sump pump in an old well pit where the pump was located that was about 3 feet below ground and it worked fine when spring run-off would seep into the pit. We live in a moderate climate, tho.

How long can the pump continuously run before the motor needs time to cool down?

Posée par: Daniel
I don't think it's the purpose of this pump to run continuously. That's why it has the float switch that monitors the amount of flow in the containment basin and as it rises it cuts on the pump. Now if the flow into the containment basin is such that the pump is running for hours and hours then I'm afraid you have a bigger problem than sump issues or you have the wrong kind of pump. They make pumps for other purposes.

can you use a garden hose with this? or do we need to buy a specific hose?

Posée par: tessmw13
Hi Tessmw13, A 1-1/2" or 1-1/4" (with adapter) discharge pipe should be used with this pump. Thanks!
