[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thread sealant is a great alternative to the standard PTFE thread tape. In my experience, liquid thread sealant is far stronger and more reliable that PTFE tape. Instead of using PTFE, Megaloc went with DuPont's Kevlar fibers making this stuff bullet-proof (pun intended.) So far I've on only used this thread sealant on black gas pipe and brass water fittings, however it is rated to work on plastic threads also. Its rated to 2600 psi on gas and 12000 psi on hydraulic. It doesn't contain any grit or solvents, and is lead free. Megaloc definitely delivered another high quality product in this thread sealant.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far, this sealant is doing the trick. I used the sealant on my air compressor hoses, and the hoses seem to be sealed up perfectly. No leaks thus far, and the clean up was pretty easy, too. No odd smell from the product either. Definitely a much better option than attempting to use tape to keep piping sealed up and tight. The product also claims to be safe for drinking water lines and to resist hardening and cracking. I haven't come in contact with either of these yet, but those are definitely nice added features.

Rated 5 de 5 de par One of the better pipe dopes on the market! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The "Multi-purpose Threat Sealant" by HERCULES is a non-separating, non-toxic (considered to be safe when applied on drinking water lines as it contains no lead or any heavy solvents), non-hazardous and non-odorous high performance sealant designed for use on all plastic/metal pipes and fittings. When I utilized the sealant as a lubricant on home water filter piping threads, to prevent the threads from locking up during the tightening process, the sealant allowed to get the pipe fittings tight enough not to leak. Surprisingly, the sealant wiped off clean from hands with soap and water and didn't leave any residual stain on clothing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used this when installing my compressed air distribution system for my shop. The system installation instructions called for two wraps of Teflon tape and a sealant to protect the threads from galling and provide extra seal for the 150 psi system. This worked well and went farther than I expected. The joints threaded together smoothly and there has been no leakage of pressure for the last week. The joints were stainless steel but the instructions say it is also suitable for iron pipe thread and PVC applications. Easy to use and works.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This appears to be an outstanding, universal thread sealant compound. It is rated suitable for water and most other liquids and is rated at 12,000 psi in that context. For gases, it withstands gas pressure up to 2600 psi. It is non-toxic, making it suitable for potable water pipe joints. It can be used on metal or plastic pipes. The compound has a light blue color, is non-hardening and the Kevlar fibers it contains are easily seen in the mix. It is not "sticky" and is easily removed from fingers with a paper towel.

Rated 5 de 5 de par sealed air hose connections with ease I used this to connect new fittings to my air compressor, air hose reel, multiple air tools and a separate standalone air hose. I did notice, as did another reviewer, a clear fluid had separated from the main paste in the tube so I capped it, and massaged the tube up and down to get it mixed well. I doubt that really made any difference though and think it would have worked fine if I just drained the fluid first. Then I squeezed the paste out onto the male ends of each fitting like toothpaste. No trouble getting it to stick to the threads, maybe because I put on a little more than probably necessary. Tightened up each connection real good, wiped off the excess, and no leaks so far. Tested my system overnite - left everything pressurized at 100psi from 10pm until 8am the following morning and no noticeable pressure loss on my gauges.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I ordered this thread sealant for a small job at the house. I just finished putting in a water heater and had a few connections where I did not want to see any leaks. This sealant proved itself worthy. I was concerned about the thermal cycling affecting the threaded joints so I used this sealant along with some PFTE tape. I was able to air pressure test the system prior to charging with water. No leaks. This stuff has no odor and is easy to clean up. It stays soft so if you have to disassemble, no worries on seized threads. I’m going to use it on iron pipe for compressed air service in my shop this weekend. Great thread sealant, worked excellent! A new must have for my plumbing box.

Can it be used on wet surfaces

The instructions for this thread sealant state that the sealant is applied to clean, dry male threads, brushing well into the roots of the threads for best results. Personally, I would not introduce any moisture or water into the threaded joint during application as it may compromise the sealing ability of the product. Always test your joints with compressed air when possible. I hope this helps.

Megaloc in a can comes with a brush for application to the pie threads. How does one apply Megaloc in a tube to pipe threads?
Posée par: Ed
Megaloc is a great product which I use on plastic threads. It stops all leaks. I put a small amount on the tip of my index finger and work it into the threads. Then I wash my hands. You can also apply it directly from the tube to the threads and even it out with your finger tip, and then wash your hands.

Sir I have a water pressure tank (40-50gal) which was supplying my house water from a submerged pump (~40 PSI) . It turned out that the galvanized elbow at the base outlet corded and broke off when being removed. In order to get the broken threads out I used a saber saw with a metal blade to cut 4 opposing vertical cuts into the pipe threads to get the male pieces of threads out on the female threads. This left 4 thin vertical cuts where there are no threads. My big question is if I use Teflon tape and MEGALOC on the new brass elbows replacement is this a suitable way to make a good leak proof joint? I appreciate you consideration of my request and recommendations. Thanks...

Sir, my experience with Megaloc only involves plastic fittings threads. I have never used it on metal pipes. I am not a plumber. Good luck!

Is there a cure time for it?

Posée par: Mihai
Under normal pressures the pipe joint compounds does not need a curing time. If the pressure in the lines is 125psi or higher, the recommended cure time is 4 hours before initiating pressure. Call Oatey Customer Service when in doubt.

This doesn't form a permanent seal does it?...I mean if I use it on my snowblower's oil drain cap, I'll be able to get the cap off for the next oil change...correct?
