Rated 1 de 5 de par Find Another Brand I agree with "Dud of the Century". He says it all. Actually, you will need that 10 pack because of the burn out rate. My last move to a new house, I installed 6 pairs in my garage. Within 6 months some started to burn out with one or none working at all after 8 months (life is listed at 28,000 hours.. really?). My suggestion is everyone should just ask for their money back and try a better product and complain to HD. I actually contacted Phillips customer service which seems just happy to send a credit. I used the credit and bought another pair, but the same burn out situation happened. Please don't rate this product upon seeing bright light after plugging them in the first time. Accurate reviews only occur after living with the product awhile. Avoid future time and trouble, buy something else.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Horrible.....21.9 yr life expectancy???? These bulbs are functional to say the least. they are bright as well easy to install. BUT don't be fooled by the 21.9 yr life expectancy of these bulbs based on 3 hr usage a day. I use these bulbs in my garage and it's on a auto on/auto off light switch. The most these bulbs see is about 1-2 hrs a day if that. With all that said, like other reviewers, these bulbs last 6-12 months at best. REALLY?!?! there's no way anyone is even coming close to a 22 yr life out of these bulbs. I understand that it's tested in a controlled environment but I can almost guarantee most people are getting under 5 years. And in my case 6-12 mo with minimal usage. Absolutely horrible. Who wants to change bulbs for the rest of their life......

When you buy linear fluorescents as these you might want to consider the "color" of light it puts out. Cool White (4100K) is bright white. If you have a workshop you might like these. If you need some for your office you might consider a Soft White (3000K) which are not as bright white but a little more amber and easier on the eyes.

Cool white works well in bath and over kitchen sink areas. Easy to install. Tip: For the hard to reach neck breaking areas, use a magic marker to mark area where end pins are. That way you can easily snap them into place without having to roll the light trying to hit the grooves.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Could have been better quality I had a project where I replaced 17 bulbs, 7 ballasts, and some sockets. The first 10 bulbs, also cool whites, came from another big box store but were a different brand. Those all worked fine and were nice and bright. The first one of these Phillips bulbs did light but put on a light show on one end. The next few did light but did not seem to light evenly over the length of the bulb. A few did light evenly from end to end. A second bulb also did not light correctly, similar to the first one. All of these bulbs were put into fixtures with new ballasts purchased from HD. The Sylvania bulbs from the other store all worked perfectly. I may have gotten a bad batch but I won't recommend them. It was a real disappointing end to this project.

When installed in the appropriate socket of a florescent fixture, it will turn on and give off a bright white glow. This will illuminate surrounding areas adjacent of the fixture, so it is imperative to place it in the optimal location to take advantage of the wonderful illumination. Also, the makers of this product have constructed the protective packaging very well so that these wonderful tubes won't suffer breakage when accessed from either end of the carton. All in all, very, very nice. I give it four stars.

Rated 5 de 5 de par As advertised These lightbulbs worked as advertised. Replaced old, burnt out light bulbs of the same spec and company (but older model). You can recycle the old bulbs at the same place you purchased too. These bulbs get dimmer over the course of their lifetimes, and the new ones I've installed are noticeably brighter than the older ones I have in other fixtures. I've only installed 2 of the 10 pack, as that's all I needed. I hope the others work too, but Home Depot is pretty good with duds so I'm not worried.

Do you buy them individually or how many come in a box?

Posée par: 7viejo
Box of ten was 19.95 vs 6.96 for 2 pack. No brainer if you have more than one fixture. Great product.

How can you tell what type of lighting fixture you have? ie: T8 or T12

Posée par: Lightup98852

what bulb is good for the garage? Cold in the winter.

Posée par: Rick
Fluorescent bulbs work well in low temps however magnetic ballasts don't. Magnetic ballasts usually require 50F to operate. Make sure your fixture has an electronic ballast as most electronic ballasts such as GE240RS120R-DIY can operate at 32F using F40T12 lamps. If it gets colder than that in your garage, you can use an electronic T8 ballast such as GE232-120RES-DIY which can operate two F32T8 or F28T8 bulbs at 0F.

What’s the difference between t8 & t12? Can I use a t12 when my previous bulbs were t8?

Posée par: Cash
Yes a T12 can be used as well as a T8 T8 is (8÷8)=1.0 inch in diameter, T12 is (12÷8)= 1.5 inch in diameter

Replacement bulbs are humming?

My previous Phillips bulbs did not produce a humming sound but the brand new replacement bulbs do. Checked online, and found it could be anything. What should I do?
Posée par: HandyDandyGirl
