Rated 5 de 5 de par Newly redesigned, great product I successfully used this product in combination with root-kill to clear root-infested 3" storm drains, after a professional rooter gave up and told me to abandon them. If you're careful, it will last. This is absolutely the wrong product for that job, but for just $39 and a lot of elbow grease, it's a steal. Tips: GO SLOWLY with the drill! As soon as you encounter resistance, stop and pull before the cable twists and kinks. If the snake gets kinked, the product will not work as well from that point forward. I had both the old version and the new version, you definitely want the new version. They appear to have corrected the old one's weak spots and it's the same price.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Works great, but pay attention After destroying two other augers like this, this one was definitely best. It is priced highest, too, but I am OK with that after mission accomplished. But, it is a 1/4" auger, and yes it will kink if you let it twist. It will not beat a $300 pro snake setup. If you are not cautious about feeding the coil, it will twist just as well as any 1/4" auger. The main difference is the feed mechanism, that makes it worth the price. Other augers, you have to pause, pull out more coil, then lock somehow and keep going. This one uses a clever constant feed setup that works very well. Got the hair clog out, got back in good graces with the wife, two thumbs up.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Effective, but disposable Unit worked well...ONCE. The second time I tried to use it, the cheezy plastic link between the inside of the revolving drum and the snake cable snapped, rendering the tool unusable. I did NOT exceed, or even approach 500 RPM. The variable torque clutch on my Makita Lithium Drill-driver was set very conservatively. Indeed, I was quite careful using this tool, so when I heard the snap and observed the snake cable stop, I could not believe it! I have been very satisfied with the performance and quality of Ridgid brand tools for many years, and will not allow this isolated incident to ruin my opinion of them. But this heap is going back for a refund, not an exchange...

Rated 5 de 5 de par Best Drain Snake Made! I spent 4 hours trying to bust a very stubborn kitchen sink drain clog with another, less sturdy (blue) auger. I ended up kinking the cable on the cheaper auger. I checked online and found the Rigid Power Spin. I used my battery powered screw gun at a low speed and took advantage of the auto feed. In 5 minutes I had cleared 25 feet of pipe! VERY simple two-handed operation! I didn't even swear! This is the first time my kids could be in the room when I worked on plumbing! With the life time warranty this is a no-brainer. Spend the extra money ($10) for the power option. I can hardly wait for the next drain to plug!

Rated 4 de 5 de par Good tool Got the job done for me. Kitchen sink, starting where the pipe enters the wall. I had tried an older snake I had (1/2 inch, but without a tip larger than the snake itself and no good way to rotate it so it was just poking the clog) and got 20 feet into the pipe and could still had 5 feet of snake left but could go no further. Got this Power Spin Drain Gun and went the full 25 feet and worked it a few times, manually and with a drill. Didn't pull anything out, but kitchen is not like bathroom, which would have hair holding the "glob" together. But this did obviously break it up enough to then use a BrassCraft Medium Drain Bladder and the blockage cleared.

Fluids were creeping out of the base of the toilet so maybe it wasn't seated right. Well, the drain had a flipping root growing in it. After a few attempts to pull it, I ran to Home Depot and picked one of these up. I figured it was worth a try. It took 5 or 6 attempts to get the end where it needed to be and then I got it stuck. At this point, I thought my project was doomed. My wife was ready to call a pro to which I was defiant. The thought of the many hundreds of dollars to see someone else do it.... SO i started pulling the line. Harder and harder and all-be-darned if a 3 foot rats nest of tree-root-muck didn't come on the last tug! Whew... this thing was easily worth 40.00 even if it doesn't retract for a future use.

After a frustrating hour trying to dislodge a blockage in our shower drain with a manually operated snake, I gambled on this rather than shelling out $150+ for a plumber. I had used the old hand crank model successfully in the past, but this time couldn't get the business end to negotiate the last turn in the pipe. The Rigid PowerSpin easily and quickly reached and snagged the large wad of hair and gook to clear the drain. Using the drill is so much easier, and more effective in my case, than hand cranking. The only criticism is that as others have noted, the design of the crank handle connection is poor. It's easy to take off -- too easy. It doesn't want to stay on.

Purchased this after I wasted an hour purchasing and returning the $6, 1/4 in. x 20 ft. Encased Sink Cleaner from Husky. This took care of my sink clog in ten minutes. I attached my cordless drill and got the job done. I can see how people could break the bit that attaches to your drill. The instructions say to set your drill to a low setting. I kept the torque level to a moderate strength and eased it up to speed. The handle and attachment mechanism which couples the crank to the auger is plastic. So if you have a very tough clog I could see how this may break. My advice is to be gentle and use a drill. Then again my clog wasn't so bad. It was just the typical stuff: sludge, hair, etc. At the end of the day it was a couple hours out of my day and $40 instead of the $80 a plumber would have cost.

Is it used in toilets?

Posée par: Frustrated
Not recommended for toilets as the snake will scratch and damage the porcelain. Use a plunger.

25' but try to ID the depth. I added tape at 6', 12', 18' and 24'. Make sure that when you see tape you manually push pass so the rollers don't tear tape off.

Can I use this on the outside sewage drain

Posée par: Carl
Probably not. These work more effectively on smaller diameter lines ( 2-3 inch). Larger diameter lines will only allow the snake to coil up on itself - not to advance without wall support.
